Working committee formed to mobilize tourism development plan

PHUKET, 1 February 2015 (NNT) – A working committee has been set up to further advance a tourism development plan in five southern provinces.

Tourism related officials have been summoned to a meeting in Phuket to review the government’s strategic plan to boost tourism in the southern region of Thailand especially in five major provinces including Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Ranong, and Satun.

The government’s tourism plan was formulated according to the National Tourism Policy Act, B.E. 2551 and was later incorporated into the Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ tourism development plan.

The meeting also resolved to form a committee which will be responsible for the implementation and the mobilization of the tourism development plan. The committee will also be tasked with assessing the outcome of the scheme.

Slogan " Thailand for a Social Media Free Holiday"

A fair justice system and law enforcement policy would go a long way to fixing some issues

What do they propose to do to get people to come when many who would like to travel are stuck with the current global economic stresses.

Time to get that word "Lure" out again.

Must've been a hard job photoshopping the 5000 Chinese glogging the beach away.

Why do they need a plan....they have just announced arrival figures are 15. % up for Jaunuary....!!

Oh wait....they wouldn't be lying would they !?? As someone else said wise up and get rid of the constant scams

And they don't change do they ! Also try and get the people working in the tourism industry to show appreciation

For they clients ..Oh and a smile would do...in the land of smiles !!

At last count Thailand had some 123,634 committees but this one will stand alone as a

" WORKING " one ?

The committee will also assess the outcome of the scheme and I'm sure they could release their findings before the scheme even starts !

Southern region of Thailand, yeah right, not sure about those bombs though.

I'm not sure Thailand needs to have more tourists or "developed" nature. It will lose it's character at the end. I would not like to find Pattaya elsewhere in Thailand. But greediness will probably win...

With all the money they spent (wasted) on committee's in the last decade they could have hired shiploads of experts from abroad to do a proper job.

Unfortunately Thailand lost most of its character years ago. Thailand of today is nothing like it was 30 years ago. In some ways it is better but mostly not

yes, you are right. I came here in 1978, visiting Patong: a little sleeping village. Not really captured by tourism. And also Chiang Mai was a town with 160.000 inhabitants. Some cars, but no congestion, but pollution, because of old stinking diesel trucks.

So, as you said, some changed to the better but the character has gone.

It would be wise to put much less emphasis on growing tourism, and much more emphasis on cleaning and protecting the environment.

But who said wisdom was in abundance?

Yes growth in tourism does has it's drawbacks. The usual stock photos of beautiful empty beaches, for example this of Maya Bay, Koh Phi Phi Ley, are churned out...............

whereas the reality is somewhat different - Maya bay at 11am.................

Well, they could declare the whole Island a Nature reserv and charge all falangs who come about 5k bht/a head.

Take away ALL foodvendors and restaurands in sight of all beaches, most falang´s are fat eough already..

Close Bangla and all bars and discos at 10pm so all the families and oldtimers can have their beautyslep and can spend their days in the aircinditioned shoppingmalls buying domesticly made qualitystuff.

Emediantley stop all touristboats in the Phangnga archiperlago, the falangs should be grateful to buy an expencive postard.

Set a minimum of spendingmoney to 20k/day so no no bloody poor people can snooze around (Chineese exepted)

Just a few little things they can do!

A committee is a way of making people feel important and avoid work.
