Thai railway police seize 50 million Baht in drugs, 5 arrested

HUA HIN:-- Railway police officers successfully apprehended 5 individuals for allegedly transporting a large amount of narcotics in two separate raids last week.

The first raid took place on Wednesday 27 January and saw officers seize 170,000 methamphetamine pills, commonly known as yaba, with an estimated street value of 50 million baht.

Upon seizing the drugs offers arrested a man and two women who were travelling on a train from Bangkok to Sungai Kolok in Narathiwat province.

Acting on a tip off, officers boarded the train at Hua Hin station when a brief search of the carriage the individuals were travelling in revealed the haul of drugs stashed in their luggage.

The man, identified as Mr Paseret, 39, reportedly confessed to police that he had been paid to transport the drugs from Chiang Rai to Nakhon Si Thammarat.

However, the two ladies Ms Malawan and Ms Jongjit, both 37, told officers they knew nothing about the drugs.

Police didn’t believe them and all were charged with drug offences and are awaiting an appearance in court.

The following day a husband and wife were arrested at Hua Hin train station on another southbound train from Bangkok when they were found to be in possession of 20,000 yaba pills.

The woman, who is 5 months pregnant, admitted they had been paid 30,000 Baht to transport the drugs to Narathiwat and that they had transported drugs on two previous occasions.

A tip off, sounds like a little drug war is going on.

1 main road and 1 rail limk between north and south, great bottleneck for the authorities, untill drug lords start using drones to deliver, they're already being used on the Mexican USA border...

They are using drones,only two legged ones, the problem might arrise from who stepped on somebodies toes and got busted.

After the sore toes are sorted bussiness as usual will prevail unhindered.

Having travelled on this train a few times I have noticed some very shady looking individuals and not excluding BIB among them.
