Roy Orbison. Described by Elvis as

The greatest singer in the world.

American country singer Vince Gill

Second best to George Jones?

Tina Turner, excellent singing voice, but Sting??

Huh? I replied to your OP in a positive manner, with what I considered to be a beautiful song. Forgive me please, for not having contributed a post, more succinctly tailored to your (obviously) "particular" tastes. Sigh! whistling.gif

I was very complimentary about Tina Turner. Back in the eighties, my wife and I were in a store in Oxford street, London.

I heard this record getting played and thought the singing voice was terrible, I ask her who it was and she said Sting, I said who is that,

she told me. Sorry, but that's my opinion.

I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, despite my reading the tone of your "considered" acronym interpretation opinion, posted to the LOS topic thread, I cease to be amazed by likes of you, anymore! Best wishes, and cheerio, chapcoffee1.gif

Ben, don't worry about George Jones, he's a cantankerous old goat but take it all with a pinch of salt- don't go away, put up some more good tunes.

This bloke was a genius with melody

I guess this gives away my age, this is the song when my wife and I met

we still listen to that one today

He certainly did.

And herewith is my considered opinion, of an English people that I came to love, and appreciate, in my younger years, as a Yank expat, working in the UK. Hope you can also appreciate this generational renditioncoffee1.gif

I have been "instructed" by my boss lady to offer you an Olive branch. Kindly consider it done wai.gif.

Indeed, herewith is a further sisterly giggle.gif and message coming to you, from my very bossy, yet quite beautiful and very British (from Liverpool Birmingham) spouse of 47-years.

The honey is dripping from this idealised version of the original song by the Pogues.

The late Robin Gibb. A great lead singer, and what a beautiful song.

Am I missing something here? What did Ben say about George Jones? I have not yet put up any of his songs.

Besides, it is the late George Jones, and may he rest in peace. The greatest country music singer ever.

Talk about rest in peace, here it is.

555 George Jones is never late to a thread started by possum

This guy had a great voice and wrote some memorable tunes

Gene Clark lead singer on this one which he wrote himself.
