Rape of Russian woman reported in Pattaya

If it was a farang raping a Thai women they would already have a answer! So Thai law inforcement!

Nonsense, except that a farang perp would be a lot easier to find.

Just a lil' bash reflecting typical farang victimization paranoia. I've personally experienced a number of cases in which according to the choir I should have been victimized but was in fact treated quite fairly by the "inforcers."

Get over it.

Pattaya City Police Station in an undated file photo.

PATTAYA: Pattaya police said a medical examination found no evidence of rape in the case of a 20-year-old Russian woman who said she had been sexually assaulted by a Thai man.

Pattaya Police commander Col. Sukthat Pumpanmuang said no indication of sexual intercourse was found, and they believe it was more likely she was a victim of attempted sexual assault as they wait for the results of a more thorough examination by mid-February.

“Initially there was no trace of rape. We got the suspect,” Sukthat said, adding that the suspect, 30-year-old tattoo artist Wuthipong Phoomkokrat, insisted he got as far as removing his pants before being kicked by the woman.

....possibly drugged....

...and at least attempted rape...

...and was there anyone through all of this to 'support' the victim.....

....like someone who could interpret....

...very young...20 years old...

..and...

...will the results be in before the victim's visa expires.....

....and where does it say in the law that..... 'sexual assaults can be settled out of court'.....

....is that a special option now....

...isn't it the duty of the state to uphold the law....and protect the people......

Why the hell does it take until mid February to get "results of a more thorough examination", what kind of "examination was carried out, this, to me, seens like another white wash, to "protect" the "good", hahaaa, name of Thailand, or a close friend to the police.

Thitiwatt said the Russian woman wants to know if she was drugged, so a blood sample was taken for testing with the results expected within two weeks.

It says settled out of court in the small print, under section B- brown envelope.wai2.gif

I disagree with the description

"Pattaya, a coastal resort town east of Bangkok, is well-known for its seedy red light district and high rate of crimes against foreigners"

The whole town is a red light district. I'm always surprised when i see families there.

There are too many people like you scubascuba that set every day waiting to paint a negative picture of Pattaya.

Considering the numbers of crimes, scams, violence, 20k prostitutes and the latest alleged rape, Pattaya needs no help painting a negative picture of itself. But it and it's main industry will always have it's apologists and supporters.

Sexual assault is any type of sexual contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient. Falling under the definition of sexual assault are sexual activities as forced sexual intercourse, forcible sodomy, child molestation, incest, fondling, and ATTEMPTED RAPE!

Poor thing. Pity her, thinking she's coming here for a relaxing holiday but instead going home raped and humiliated.

Maybe she should of chosen somewhere other than Pattaya to relax in. But all I can find is a Russian lady has been raped , where were her friends was she with a family , indeed was she Russian ?

What ridiculously stupid comments!

In order, -

She should be able to holiday anywhere she wants to, without having to worry about such things.

Your casual dismissal of "All you can find is a Russian lady has been raped" is actually quite sickening. There's something wrong with you.

Again, she shouldn't have to think about having to have friends and family with her acting as some kind of protection.

Does her nationality really matter in the context of the story?

100% correct.

But.... Unfortunately ( or fortunately, depending on your view point, as every male would be apprehensive of a fake rape allegation) this latest news introduces a lot of "reasonable doubt"

Perhaps kicking the guy was the first time she actually said "no"... So he pulled up his pants and left.

admittedly, having dropped them in the first place, without a full understanding of consent being given, was perhaps a step to far, but throw in alcohol and (maybe... Maybe not???) drugs, and anything might happen, including misunderstanding the old yes/no dance

Two weeks for the blood test results to determine if she has been drugged (at her request) seems normal... Every couple of years I have to do a mandatory drug screen, and I'm always told it takes two weeks, with processing done in Bangkok, not locally ( but I would assume that the BIB could speed that up if they really wanted too)

All we can realistically assume, is that the guy has tattoos

Out of context , but a good try. Yes she should be able to holiday where she likes but she could come to harm in P. more than any other place i have been to in Thailand and I have been here 11 years. " All I can find is a Russian lady has been raped " Yes that is all the information that was forth coming ie no more details of events.. Same applies to was she on her own walking the streets of P. Not enough information , if she was out and about on her own then trouble could condemning be close by. As for being Russian , that is what the headline says , where am I condeming Russian women ? There is something wrong with you . We agree .

Yes agreed 100% however in this case if i am reading it correctly, some off her cloths had been removed and he was in the process of removing his pants when she woke up! He has also admitted his intent, and admitted guilt of attempted sexual assault. The definition of sexual assault in Thailand is very wrong, there is no such thing as attempted, its sexual assault full stop! For the judicial system to allow such a crime to be settled with a brown envelope is disgusting.

already doubting the woman.

Actually, I think it's standard procedure all over the world.

I feel for the lady and I hope justice will be done.

A medical examination is usually provided

No Evidence of Sexual Assault of Russian Woman, Pattaya Police Say

For what purpose would he be removing his pants ??? is this not an admission of intent ??

I would have thought it was fairly obvious he was removing his pants to show her his tattoo - as in the Co - Constantinople type joke........ but she kicked him when she found out it was really only a Con.

But I should not joke as rape is a very serious offence and it always amazes me how many TV posters think it was her fault or she was trying a scam.

It beggars belief that anybody seriously thinks that a Russian girl would try to extract money from a Thai tattoo artist?

It does not matter if she was a virgin or had been selling sex for years, nobody has the right to rape her, even if she was drunk and said yes and then changed her mind it is her prerogative. I'm not suggesting this was the case, but that is the right principle. I hope she eventually gets fair treatment.

That's it then... The women has withdrawn her claim and the BIB have closed the case, according to the supplied link

But what about the attempted rape confession.... That's being conveniently forgotten about... Could be that the girl just wants to get out of the country, and doesn't want the hassle of appearing in court, given that she wasn't actually molestered/ raped.

Amazing Thailand.

I hope the Thai man will be arrested soon ( or was it a Burmese?), though it's hard to give evidence...She could be lucky to be still alive.

Give your sad, old, boring jokes a rest,it's been done to death.

I'm sorry that I can't climb down to your level. But you got 3 "likes". Be happy and enjoy your beer.clap2.gif

Amazing Thailand.

There is also the scenario that the idea of sex was, in the beginning, consensual. 20 yo girl, self admittedly drunk in a club willingly (?) accompanies a guy back to his apartment and passes out (through the drink or whatever other substances she was using) before things progress. Wakes up, wonders where she is and freaks out, making accusations.

For clarity on this post, the above is only a scenario, but it is a scenario that happens often throughout the world. It is not meant to put blame on the 'victim', and if it is proved that the Thai guy was responsible for drugging with the intention of rape, may he burn in the fires for it.

It will be interesting to see the results of the blood tests to determine what types of drugs were in the system, 'drug rape type' or recreational.

Did they check her blood for signs of a date rape drug or alcohol, ether of which could cause somebody to pass out. It seems unlikely any woman would pursue a rape claim as actively as in this case unless she had pretty good grounds for suspecting she had been molested while unconscious.

Thailand's sky-high rape figures - officially one rape around every 15 minutes, but as most rapes are never reported the figure is likely to be much higher - indicate a clear need for a national rape crisis centres women who are sexually assaulted can go to for a more sympathetic reception than is likely from the male dominated forces of law and order.

PATTAYA — A Russian tourist said today she was drugged and raped by a Thai man in the resort town of Pattaya Thursday night.

The Russian woman alerted the police at about 4am on Friday, though police said they have yet to confirm she was sexually assaulted.

Ahh, that quaint little "Resort Town" of Pattaya in the news again!

Poor lass, must have been mistaken for one of those Russian "entertainers" but, (assumption) a single woman out alone late at night/ early hours of the morning, in a foreign country in an area know for less than wholesome family entertainment and attracting those who gravitate to that type of entertainment.

WADDAYAEXPECT!

Just read your post and the add posted on the right hand side. Where can I buy some Hormel Chili and get a $1.00 off. Sometimes I blame these rapes on all the adds I see on different sites saying "Russian Ladies Looking For You" or "Asian Ladies Want You" At age 77 what the heck would they want with me? I would be broke anyways buying enough Viagra to satisfy them all. I truly love my g/f but if we broke up I would want to see my next g/f through one of those airport scanners to see what she is like on the inside. Is she made of the "Right Stuff?" In summary I think the BIB should realize that no Thai man would do this and start looking for some B or C illegal. They need a donkey to pin the tail on so to speak.

Good for her that they cover her face in the picture and don't name her in the article.

I read many other news sometimes really embarrassing for the victim as well where the victim get named and the face can be seen.

It seems like russians have far more rights in Thailand than farangs of other countries.

Honestly now she should get named too as no sign of rape but she ruined the reputation of the guy in news before.

This rape thing is often used from women to damage a guy when they don't get what they want.

It doesn't take 2 weeks for a drug test, this is a delaying action, the girls are not likely to still be in Thailand to pursue the case.
