A war-left B40 rocket exploded on Friday afternoon, leaving two boys dead in central Cambodia's Kampong Thom Province, a local police chief confirmed Saturday.

"The victims found the old B40 rocket in the woods while they went to trap small animals; then, they used rocks to beat on it, triggering the explosion," Pen Sam Oth, police chief of Popok commune, where the accident took place, told Xinhua, citing the third boy, who ran away when he saw the two victims trying to break apart the bomb.

The ill-fated boys, aged 12 and 14 years old, were neighbors, he said.

Landmines and unexploded ordnances killed 18 Cambodian people and injured 93 others in 2015, according to a government report.

The Southeast Asian country is one of the countries that suffered badly from landmines and unexploded ordnances. An estimated 4 to 6 million landmines and other munitions were left over from three decades of war and internal conflicts that ended in 1998.

The country is seeking about 36 million U.S. dollars a year for the next decade to entirely get rid of all types of landmines and explosive remnants of war.

If you would do the research, you would find out that most of the UXO in Cambodia is from the Khmer Rouge, and anyone knows that a B40 rocket is a Chinese RPG round that was used by the Khmer Rouge. US was not around to blame for that one but I am sure where blame is sought blame will be found.

the residual affects of yet another illegal US war.

The residual effect has been horrific, due to UXO... More needs to be done to find and remove these bombs, which have resulted in too many civilian deaths

But, whilst not American, I am curio use as to why you call it an illegal war, by the US, as it was originally a continuation of WW2, after Japan surrendered its occupied territories, which saw France try to restructure its former colony, but in the end, they failed to do so

Ultimately south Vietnam became an Allie of the US, seeking assistance.

Yes... The US had their own agenda, but that alone doesn't make it illegal, does it?

Please don't misconstrue this as an argumentative post... I'm genuinely seeking information about what became a very unpopular war, which I have limited knowledge of, so would welcome your input / insight.

Yeah, but they're peasants 1000's of miles away from the US.

So you know, Rock n Roll boys. Drop them bombs and show 'em who's God.

You and AllSeeingBrownEye need to read post #3, and then, to borrow one of the best retorts I have ever seen on TV, " go jump off a bridge through helicopter blades landing in the river and turn up in pieces."

Never miss what your feeble minds perceive as a chance to US-bash, do you?

The B40 rocket aside, the 4 years of bombing in Cambodia by the US was illegal for the reasons as it was not "approved" by congress and the US public were lied to by Nixon and Kissinger.
Operation Menu
Kissinger should have been tried for war crimes.

As an American, I am disgraced by my governments actions during that time and now disgraced by their lack of action now. Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia are a mess thanks to the US government and its "secret" war.

You fail to understand that this happened in CAMBODIA not in Vietnam. The US bombing of Cambodia and Laos was illegal not only from an international standpoint but was also illegal by US law as they did this bombing covertly and this was not sanctioned by the US congress. The US soldiers were under strict orders NEVER to enter Cambodia or Laos on foot and had no permission to bomb it from the air either. There was no declaration of war against either Laos or Cambodia.

in laos the situation is even worse than in cambodia
The U.S. dropped more than 2 million tons of bombs on Laos from 1964 to 1973 during the Vietnam War. That’s equal to a planeload every 8 minutes for 9 years.
Of the 260 million cluster bombs dropped by the United States, up to 30 percent of them failed to detonate.

Read post #10 then tell me who has the feeble mind!!!

The US deserves to be bashed for what they did in Cambodia and Laos.

It was ILLEGAL and was a war crime. They deserve to be called out on it.

Perhaps if there was some accountability for this back when it happened the US wouldn't still be continuing their illegal wars which have now resulted in international chaos.
