davidst01
We have a new Samsung phone with a few hours battery upon opening the box. Should we wait until the battery has discharged or put it on a charger right away for 8 hours? Whats the best thing to do for the battery? thanks

KhunBENQ
Quite likely its a Li-Ion battery. They should not be discharged unnecessarily. Worst: store them discharged. Both storing fully loaded as well as discharged for a long time is no good for these batteries. Some tips about battery handling are from other/previous types (NiCd) but do not apply to Li-Ion. Langsuan Man
The days of having to "overnight" charge new phones are over Just charge it up to full before using it, no need to wait for it to discharge all the away, since you will need a full charge to obtain all the updates that are available since when your phone was manufactured, both for the OS and any apps that may come pre installed
