carmine
Thats an absolute disaster! Quality products at relatively sensible prices and its about to go!! Oh well, i suppose its back to the usual uninteresting overpriced crap they always used to offer us.

samuijimmy
Yes, it's a shame, Big C has gotten back in favour with me lately and I've been shopping there more lately, as they cleaned up their smelly meat department... and selection better than Tesco on some things ... BuaBS
Did I miss it in the article....Big C is losing or making a profit in Thailand ? But is sold off to pay off debt , because South american markets are non profitable ? <deleted>. Another rich chinese Thai taking over like cp took over Makro ? That sucks. It can only get worse. First Carrefour , my favorite , then Makro , now Big C , what's next Lotus ?

Yes but they had no fresh produce and an extremely poor selection of everything .. Don't know why they bothered . Which is why they closed .. Do it properly or not at all.. TheCruncher
How does everybody know they will disappear? Makro was sold & it's better choice now. Most of the Casino products have already been taken of the shelves in Pattaya. The selection at Makro has been reduced since CP took over in my opinion. Quality is no longer on their books, cheap ( read high profit items ) is the only thing that counts. Take a look at the frozen seafood section, 20 meters of freezers with nothing than Pangasius. Oh I forgot they also have some tilapia fish. Edited February 14, 2016 by TheCruncher

Truroboy
Maybe Big C will do a deal to import Casino products under a concession deal Big maybe I know but they only need to look at their POS data to check sales rates and profitability . OK I know a bit far fetched but you never know We await in hope

worgeordie
The Jams at big C, their own brand were very good ,reasonable price the Fig and Apricot are my favourite,so I am stocking up,before another product becomes unavailable. Its the owner of ThaiBev that has bought it,so expect the shelves to be full of Chang beer,Thai rice whiskey. regards Worgeordie

TheCruncher
Now this is good news .Lets hope all branches even Samui Well done for the photo If I'm not mistaken Casino products were only sold at Big C extra's, so if this announcement is anything more than an attempt to save customers and they really will continue Casino products,I would guess that there will be no change in the locations where they are sold. KhunBENQ
Interesting point. I simply assumed that there is only one BigC Extra, the one on Pattaya Klang (converting from "Carrefour") So I learned there are multiple of these top of the pops. An no: Casino products are sold in Khon Kaen and Udon Thani also (two examples that I know). The one in Khon Kaen is called a "BigC Supercenter". The selection is much smaller than on Pattaya Klang and some products might be out of stock (depending on tourist season maybe). To my displeasure the 100% Arabica coffee from Brasil is out since at least two weeks My favorite dark chocolade with almonds (200 gr for 99 Baht) also often out of stock (but same in Pattaya on two visits ). They can get better with their inventory system. Fingers crossed. Edited February 24, 2016 by KhunBENQ
