He certainly needs a visa to enter Thailand, here the ruling:

National IRAN (ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF) (IR)

Destination THAILAND (TH)

Passport (must be valid 6 months beyond visa application and in

good condition) and visa required.

Moved to the visas for Thailand forum.

Where can he get thai visa in maylasia or can he not come to thailand from maylasia and get a 30 day stamp.

As an Iranian national, your friend does not appear to qualify for visa-exemption nor for a visa on arrival. Therefore, he needs to apply for a tourist visa. The best place to apply for his visa would be the Thai embassy/consulate in his home country, but he can also try at a Thai consulate in Malaysia.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Indeed, if he's still in Iran, he should apply there.
