Car Window Film

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks

Not only is My wifes Mazda 2 window film too dark (in my opinion dangerous at night).... But also has degraded, making the screen appear as if its dirty

Can I please have your recommendations for a reliable removal and replacement company

Also an idea of cost would be appreciated

Many thanks

I had my new Revo done at Boy Car, virtually opposite the Toyota on the west side of Sukhumvit Rd. When I picked up my new car the film wasn't dark enough, they took off the old film and put the darker film on. I can't remember how much I paid, although I would suggest quality of workmanship is more important than saving a few Baht.

Good luck.

Whoever you choose, have them do the side and rear windows between 70% to 90% but leave the front window clear. Nighttime driving is only made more difficult with a tinted front windshield - IMHO.

70 to 90% is way too dark IMHO.

Way way too dark!!, 40% driver and passenger windows and 60% rear side windows is more normal. But many modern films dont need to be dark at all to keep out UV rays.

My V-Kool film for a (small) Mazda 2 cost about 4500 Baht in 2011.

Including removal of the silly stuff that Mazda had put on without asking/discussing bah.gif

(that was not in Pattaya, but even small upcountry towns have more than one specialist place for that)

All V-Kool films claim 99% UV absorption. So that's indeed not a point.

EDIT: deleted, I really don't remember the technical details of the film I have.

It's much more transparent than most drivers use here.

A nice gadget ("Filmtest") by V-Kool Thailand:

From that I am quite sure that I have the "VK 70" type, highest translucence they offer (70%).

Thanks everyone......

I totally agree anything over 40 per cent is dangerous at night especially with these foolish Thais who ride without rear lights......but we have covered that issue many times.....

ps. I fully expect an ear bashing when I return home with her film changed......but better than her hitting someone...or dog...or kerb
