NLA to deliberate additional budget law on Feb 18

BANGKOK, 14 February 2016 (NNT) – The National Legislative Assembly is scheduled to deliberate more draft laws next week.

NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai has issued an invitation to all members of the legislature to attend sittings on February 18 and 19.

Among urgent topics planned for the upcoming sittings is the draft of an additional 2016 fiscal budget law, which was proposed by the Cabinet, and a draft amendment of the Thai Criminal Code.

Members of the NLA will also be reviewing draft amendments to the Srinakharinwirot University Act and the Trademark Act.

The legislature is also scheduled to review a study on an investigation into budget disbursement by local administrative organizations.

an additional 2016 fiscal budget law

Too many off-budget programs, foreign loans and subsidies.

A legislative body that is independent of the executive branch would insist the government take fiscal responsibility to operate within the approved budget or cut back its programs. Instead the NLA has no check and balance authority over Prayut's government and will simply rubberstamp Prayut's unlimited access to the nation's treasury.

Are Submarines included in the 2016 budget ? Maybe some overdue VTOL aircraft for the Carrier ?

Fiscal responsibilty is nothing a general would understand......just keep spending, as it's said to be good for the economy.......make sure there's some for ummm.....

What about budget law governing spending during junta government. In a democratically elected government, Parliment is place to question budget spending and bring out descranpancies. I have yet to hear the NLA question budget spending the last 19 months. With the enormous amount to be spend on infrastructure projects, who are the watch dogs.

Budget laws have not changed since the coup.
