You can only get a single entry tourist visa.

They will be closed on the 22nd for a Thai holiday.

Feb 22 Monday Makha Bucha National holiday

Do they still issue Non-O's based on marriage to a Thai without financial proof? Thanks a lot in advance. wai2.gif

Another question.. If I remember right, it is possible to pay with US dollars to buy the visa into Laos?

Could I go in a Thai bank, and buy US dollars and save some money this way?

The fee in THB for the Laos visa is 1500 THB? And in USD?

Thanks, Joe. Is that really a one year multiple entry one?

I think it's $12, or 15.. but banks do not sell greenbacks. They"only" buy them. And the fee for a visa was 1,400 when I was there 2 years ago.

I wish it was only $12 or $14. The fee ranges from $20 to $42. As far as I know it has been 1500 baht for many years. Banks will sell dollars.

I have been to Laos numerous times and previously I have always paid 35 US$, last time that I went, a few weeks ago, I couldnt get hold of any US$, so I paid 1500B..and I got 5 US$ change , so it would have been pointless changing the Baht into $.

Although this was at the Chiang Kong crossing

Well, then im going to overstay one day, adds up!! If I where to leave on Sunday, I would have to sleep 3 nights. I rather pay 500 baht for 1 day overstay then paying for hotel and food, and sleep 2 night at the hotel instead of 3.. Agreed?

You do have time to do it this week. You do not have to wait until next week.

You could also go to immigration and apply for a 7 day extension, pay the 1900 baht fee and be given 7 days to leave the country.

The last option is to overstay for a day or two.

You can get reasonable basic hotels to stay in for 300 Baht in Sinkhankoville , within walking distance to the Consulate

Food? You would be buying food in Thailand, so that would be the same expense

Typo perhaps. There is no consulate in Sinkhankoville Camboida.

An entry from a tourist visa or visa exempt entry can be extended ONCE for 1900 Bht.

If more time is needed then only 7 days, during which the country must be left, is available at a cost of 1900 Bht.

I was giving you your options. All extensions cost 1900 baht it does not matter if is for 7 or 30 or 60 or 90 days or one year.

I'm aware of that. But I'm moving to chiang rai in a month. And I hate the immigration office at Shakhon nakon. And I have signed up for thai language school so I need a new visa. Suits me better to do a visa run.

That right I know that.. But doesn't suits me to do an extension atm.

Hi All,

It appears that UbonJoe is the wise Sage on all things Visa.

Is it possible to get the one year multiple non o visa based on marriage from Savannakhet even though you are not a resident in Laos? I noticed on the Consulate website that it mentioned it was only open to laos residents.

Yes you can get the multiple entry visa in Savannakhet.

Not sure where you saw that on their website. Vientiane's does say that on the fee schedule and it is true they do not do them.
