Yingluck stands trial at Supreme Court for dereliction of duty

Featured Replies

Not by any means a fan of the Shins. But are we to believe that she alone is responsible for this colossal mountain of dereliction?

It's hard to imagine that she had the energy or the intelligence to pull off all her crimes single-handedly.

And it's unlikely that while she was running amok everyone else in government was honestly hard at work doing good deeds on behalf of the people

So....where are her co-conspirators? Where all the other derelicts?

It would appear others are entitled to share the consequences of this malfeasance.

How many people, of all those involved in the debacle, had the power to make the decision, upon seeing how much money was being wasted day after day, week after week, month after month, to pull the plug? It's this person / these people who have the most to answer for.

Is there not a case to say if the CEO saw reporting managers and staff doing large scale unethical things then that CEO should have acted quickly and seriously including removing some people? There is only one answer - yes!

She can't say she didn't know, many highly credible people, local & international organizations raised the alarm and many times. She ignored all these warnings, therefore she is derelict.

Should others also be charged? Well one such case is happening right now; the G2G fake deals, around 25 people are being tried right now.

Others should probably also be charged, and I hope they are.

Corruption is a crime, we all know that.

But being a lousy leader and politician, isn't that the norm here?

being a lousy leader and politician

unless you are a general.......is he politian? Is he a leader?

...what happened to the charges of corruption etc.....???

I wonder whether she will stay to face the music like Chuvit or run away like her cowardly brother who dropped her in this with his hair brained rice scheme.

The same rent a crowd in this photo , but something amiss no flowers in this shot,

She got lots of red roses and just look at the surprise on her face when she saw the flowers.

Yingluck just gave tv interview on CNN. Even though she was educated in the USA she spoke in Thai because her English skills are so poor. She acts like she has been victimized but claims she will not escape like Thaksin did.

"...former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra standing trial for dereliction of duty."

I wonder what an army chief that has overthrown an elected government should stand trial for? Oh, wait a minute, he has given himself an amnesty!

WE are repeatedly told that Prayut has overseen the drop of foreign investment in Thailand by a whopping 87%, probably more damaging long term than the rotten rice scheme, but his commanding role in this massive flight is not a crime, I am confused.

Corruption is a crime, we all know that.

But being a lousy leader and politician, isn't that the norm here?

Not if it involves willingly being complicit in abuse of the position and eventually being snapped !

Think I can probably help you there Duke.

Back in the days when Suthep Thaugsuban and Prayut Chanocha were negotiating their terms for taking over the governrnent of Thailand they struck a deal whereby they both agreed on one and one only goal. The Shinawatras must be destroyed. All other associated parties would get amnesty to enable the new regime to focus only on its core objective. For example " Delenda est Carthago" Repeat the mantra often enough and Carthage will be destroyed.

What toilet door did you read that on?

You write as if it's a statement of fact. Is it?

I wonder what an army chief that has overthrown an elected government should stand trial for? Oh, wait a minute, he has given himself an amnesty!

Meanwhile, back in Thai justiceland, a former PM an Deputy PM who ordered the army to crack down on protesters and cause 99 deaths, including foreign press, nurses and other civilians inside a wat, were cleared of wrongdoing by the Criminal Supreme Court on a technicality.

TV Anti-Thaksinistas OCDers (OCD: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) celebrate now, as they celebrated the2006 coup and this one.

Got a big agenda with new deformation for Xmas?

Case was dismissed as it was sent to the wrong court....

Defense appealed. Appeal court confirmed the case was sent to the wrong court and uphold the original verdict..

Biased much are we?

If the first court dismissed the case and it was sent to a higher court and they dismissed it for the same cause perhaps as they most probably know FAR more about Thai law than and certainly I do I would tend to accept what they say long before I would accept what you say.

Just suppose it goes to appeal and the Appeals court reject it for the same reason will you still say that they are biased? Even though every court so far has thrown it out so far? That would mean that you know far more than any lawyer or court in Thailand where you and I and 99% of the posters on Thai visa have no say in what goes on.

Why don't you personally go in front of the courts and simply tell them that they are wrong and you are right and see what they think about that?

"...former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra standing trial for dereliction of duty."

I wonder what an army chief that has overthrown an elected government should stand trial for? Oh, wait a minute, he has given himself an amnesty!

Can you "overthrow" a government no longer in office? Are you against all governments giving themselves amnesty, or do you reserve that for military government?

"Can you "overthrow" a government no longer in office?"

Yes, you can overthrow a caretaker government that was trying to hold elections. Is that difficult for you to grasp?

" Are you against all governments giving themselves amnesty, or do you reserve that for military government?"

Yes, are you?

Don't bother arguing with these geniuses. In their bizarro world the Thai military never grabs power illegally. They say the same thing about the coup which deposed Thaksin, ie there was no government in office at the time.

When challenged they regurgitate yet again the constitutional process with which we are all familiar.Difficult to know who they think their audience is since the rest of the world knows their silly and transparent games.I suppose - ignoring the dishonesty involved - it's the old story of the slug crawling across the mosaic without understanding the overall pattern.

Love it - best 'put in place' for long time clap2.gif Thank you - my next drink is a toast to you sir. thumbsup.gif

But, but, but, but ............................

Best try and change the topic and deflect this discussion about Yingluck's very obvious negligence.

"Ms. Yingluck - please explain how as chair you never attended any of the meetings? Please provide copies of meeting minutes showing actions taken and follow ups to ensure everything was running correctly. Please provide audited accounts for the scheme?"

All she has to do is show she wasn't negligent, acted diligently and produce the financial accounts to support her wide assertions. Perhaps the 42 witnesses will do this?

They recently stated the amount of damages they should be required to pay back. In total it amounts to 20 billion baht, with Boonsong having to pay the most as he was the chief architect of this farce!!

Attempting to curry favour with the fugitive hasn't exactly made him the fortune he was expecting as 'pay back' gigglem.gif.

Okay 10 years later, or next 20 years later,........... cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

All the usual gang try to change the thread from discussing Yingluck's negligence to something else. Hard to defend a chairperson who doesn't bother to turn up to any meetings, especially after self appointing.

Yingluck was removed from office by a court for abuse of power. The PTP caretaker government was removed in a military coup. Most people know the reasons given and the underlying bigger picture reasons.

Thaksin had dissolved parliament and then chose to resign as caretaker PM. He then changed his mind and took office again, on no authority but his own. So much for democracy.

What ever the history and behaviors of current and previous coups, civilian governments and politicians, it does not excuse wrong doing by the Shins.

Oh, I forgot, Thaksin said on CNN he has never done anything wrong, never ever, in his entire life, and neither has Yingluck. Of course those interested, which I doubt is the rest of the world, who probably aren't that interested in Thailand, or your inane comments, can see through the Shin PR propaganda games.

One must wonder, why some posters seem unable to see through the Shin propaganda.

Please tell us, do you think Yingluck was diligent and professional in the way she chaired the rice scheme, followed up warnings from international and domestic sources, and managed the whole scheme?

Rubbish in.. rubbish out... sort of describes your thought process right? as the latest release said "for the benefit of the nation" but you can't read right???

I've reported your childish insults. Shame you have to resort to rude insults, but perhaps that's easier than thinking/

Appreciate it's hard to defend this blatant negligence. The latest release said "some benefit for the nation" as I'm sure you're aware.

Wonder how the fraudulent G2G orders, or the lack of financial accounts, etc benefited the country? Perhaps Yingluck will start a new trend - Chair people won't attend meetings, no accounts will be published and if anyone asks just say everything is wonderful, make vows you have no intention of keeping and smile or cry as appropriate.

The same rent a crowd in this photo , but something amiss no flowers in this shot,

She got lots of red roses and just look at the surprise on her face when she saw the flowers.

Which proves what?

She was surprised. Just an observation. The last thing I want to see is Yingluck in prison. I think all Thai people agree with that. Her brother? Well, Chuwit is brave enough not to flee and man up for some jail time.

The establishment was trying to pile on the pressure and hoping she will do a runner. Glad she didn't and confronting the group that has an agenda to rid her and her family through the courts and agencies. She will not receive the same lenency treatment accorded to friends of establishment. Good luck to her.

So Eric, do you believe her to be innocent of the charge of negligence?

If so can you please explain your reasoning?

As the Americans say: "tent peg boner". laugh.png

Still a terrific actress. Just wait for the tears at the trial.

Your Honour, "A chairwoman who does not chair meetings is not dereliction".

Surely not Chairing any of the meetings is dereliction of duty in the first instance!

Yingluck just gave tv interview on CNN. Even though she was educated in the USA she spoke in Thai because her English skills are so poor. She acts like she has been victimized but claims she will not escape like Thaksin did.

Looks like big brother has told her she's gotta take one for the team.

Unfortunately she can't send everybody to attitude adjustment who says she stole money from Thais

She doesn't have to. Bribery will get her all the witnesses she needs

She no needs bribery, she was PM of Thailand at that time.Abisit and Suthep got of the hook for murder and attempted murder because they were the government.

But Sawasdee double standard,They will do same as they did with her brother.

Her brother said the same sort of thing about not needing bribery when his case was being heard. Declared that he would face the legal system head on and accept whatever it's outcome would be. He lied in both cases. First he did try to bribe the courts and then when the verdict didn't go in his favour he ran away. Seems likely his sister will do the same sort of thing but of course to her fans, it will make no difference, just as it made no difference when Thaksin did it. "Well of course she had to run away, with all the cards stacked against her", is what we will no doubt be hearing in the unlikely event of her having to face any jail time. Chances are though that she won't, otherwise she would no longer be here.

And with regards killings by authorities, if you are genuinely concerned about human rights abuses, you might want to do a little research into the thousand plus people who were killed without trial during Thaksin's tenure.

Different if drug dealers die or people who wear different color of shirts.Did it ever come into your mind that the accusations against Thaksin could be made up???Have a look into history of Army and royalists.I'm not a shin fan at all,but what we have in thailand now is worst case scenario. In thai is year 2559 but the rulers want Thailand to go back to 2359 Sukothai, they try everything to keep their status,Don't u think it is suspicious if anti junta thai citizens suddenly die in prison?Don't u find it suspicious almost only red shirts sit in prison?Don't u find it suspicious critics of the new constitution are threatened?I could ask u a lot more of those questions....................but as junta friend u will have excuses for everything, never mind.

I wonder what an army chief that has overthrown an elected government should stand trial for? Oh, wait a minute, he has given himself an amnesty!

Although I agree with you in principle, you may be accused of using the ."......but,but Prayuth.." refrain, as many do when the subject is Suthep, Abhisit and others.

If Prayuth has done wrong, there will come a time when that subject can be discussed. As of now, the subject is Yingluck and her trial.

What d'you mean if? There's none so blind etc.

Unfortunately she can't send everybody to attitude adjustment who says she stole money from Thais

Oh Please try and catch up.

She is not on trial for stealing money from Thais. She is on trial for deraliction of duty caused by her utter incompetence.

So that is what she is on trial for - neglicence? She might very well be but that is not why an elected PM is put on trial. She is put on trial because the "wrong" people were elected by a majority of the population. Simple as that.
