Buying Second Hand Truck in Bangkok - dealer doesn't have Blue Book

Featured Replies

I've been looking around Bangkok for a Second Hand Truck. I found one that I'm leaning towards but the dealer doesn't have the blue book...He has a copy along with the previous owner's signed copy of id card, power of attorney, and vehicle transfer form. The blue book is at the previous owners finance company so the dealer wants me to go together with him to the finance company and for me to pay off the truck and get the blue book. Seem sketchy? or is this common practice? Thanks for the replies!

Nothing sketchy about the blue book being held by the finance company until the final payment has been made,it's common practice.

I assume you will be paying for the car outright and not on finance which if is the case and you have the relative visa and certificate of residency etc the car/log book will be put into your name.

Thanks for the reply...I have a non-b visa and work permit so seems everything should be ok. I was reading that I don't need the cert of residency if I have a work permit.
