Just wondering if open dated airline tickets still exist.

In this modern era of on-line reservations..............It seems that you ALWAYS have to have a return date at the time of booking and paying for the outward leg of the trip.

In " the old days" you could buy a return ticket with an open date for the return leg .............................does this still exist?

If so can you do this yourself on line or is it only done thru travel agents ???

Any UP TO DATE advice or info appreciated.

You will have to speak to someone to achieve this either an agent or airline staff. The agent will know which airlines offer this style of ticket and save you a lot of time.

Alternatively book with an airline that has a low date change fee and again the agent knows which airlines offer these. Don't just wander into any old travel agent you see on the street. Use the search box on this forum to get the info on good agents who are reliable and know what they are doing.

If you don't know when you are returning or where you are returning from going out on a one way gives you a lot more freedom.

whistling.gif There are still possibilities to do that but you will have to use an agent who can get you a ticket that will allow you to stay with no specified return date.... with such things as a 30 day,60 day or even a 90 day stay period..

But be aware it will cost you more to get such an "open ended return ticket". with no preset return date.

You can even still get the old "around the world" ticket that gives you a ore set time to latterly travel around the world with no reset reservations if you are adventurous enough to try it.
