Non B Visa and Work Permit Expiring - What to Do?

Featured Replies

Good day people. Just to clarify - my contract as a teacher is coming to an end on Feb 29. Both my Non B Visa and Work Permit (WP) will also expire on the same day.

My question is that do I have to cancel them? How do I go about everything? Can I just travel out of the country on the day itself (or a day or two earlier) without informing the Immigration or returning my WP?

My school is going to renew my contract. However the next term will only start in May and all the required docs will not be ready until a month later. So this leaves me with no choice but to travel out of Thailand upon the expiration of my contract/WP/Non B and come back again.

Thanks.

You should cancel you work permit since you will be applying for anther one.

You can just leave and that will cancel your extension. But if you are leaving at a border crossing you should have a termination letter in case they want to see it before they allow you leave.

Thanks for the information. Can I cancel the WP on my own? If yes, what documents do I need to provide them?

No need to do anything in advance. Walk in with your WP and passport. The latter may not even be required, but best to have it with you if they ask. After confirming that you are the permit-holder, they will complete a form and hand it to you.

Does the OP need to cancel WP if it expires the day he exits TH ?

understand you well...

having a work permit implies to be a prisoner not able to leave without termination letter?

work permit expired visa is expired too. they are linked to each other.

one HAS to leave anyhow.

so no choice in that, one can extend the visa for 7 days to clear up things at immigration.

why school not extend the visa and work permit? To save 2 months salary?
