The first Cambodia Sports Awards was held at NagaWorld last Thursday evening with decorated Kun Khmer specialist Sen Rady winning the Male Athlete of the Year grand prize, while Petanque champion Ke Leng garnered top prize in the Female category.

Rady, also known as Tin Pheap, beat out the likes of soccer darling Chan Vathanaka and a host of other contenders thanks to his gold-medal winning display at the 2015 Vovinam Championships in Algiers. The award comes after Tin Pheap received $30,000 from the allocated Government fund for sporting excellence as well as a $10,000 personal contribution from Prime Minister Hun Sen upon his return from the competition in August 2015.

Meanwhile Sorn Seavmey, the Kingdom’s gold-medal winning Taekwondo martial artist, took the Most Popular Athlete Award, which came by way of a social media vote.
