BANGKOK, 23 February 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Commerce has joined hands with the private sector to hold THAIFEX-World of Food 2016, enlisting world renowned German event organizer Koelnmesse to aid in promoting Thai food and agricultural product makers.

Deputy Minister of Commerce, Winichai Chaemchaeng, let on that THAIFEX-World of Food 2016 will likely take place in late May at Impact Muang Thong Thani. The event will look to assert Thai food products on the world stage while itself aiming to become Asia’s most prominent food industry convention.

Producers from up to 40 nations have already signed on to take part in the fair and an estimated 1.5 billion baht in sales is predicted to result from the event, adding to a 7 billion baht projection for the year.

The Ministry of Commerce has placed great importance on the Thai food sector as it among the top 5 sources of export revenue for the Kingdom, reaching 24 billion US dollars last year.
