Trespassing buildings removed from Rayong beach

RAYONG, 1 March 2016 (NNT) – Constructions that trespass the beach area have been removed from Laem Charoen Beach after officials have vacated the allowance time expiration as part of the NCPO’s regulation campaign.

Rayong Governor Somsak Suwansujarit today led a team of officials to vacate and remove buildings that trespass Laem Charoen Beach in Pak Nam District, Rayong Province. This operation was part of the beach's regulation campaign, as ordered by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO).

Owners and residence of these illegally built houses have been previously warned to vacate the area within 37 days. Despite warnings, owners of 30 buildings have continued to disobey the order, calling to officials to find the solution for the local people who lack working and living space.

The President of Rayong Small Boats Folk Fishermen Lamom Boonyong has said fishermen have been staying at the disputed areas for al one time, requesting the authorities to help them find a new working space before vacating the area.

He has said local people do not object the vacate order as they understand they are trespassing the land, while the authorities have agreed to hold talk with the affected people to find mutual solutions.

On this matter, the governor of Rayong states that it is necessary to remove all illegal buildings for orderliness, and the province will closely work with locals to conserve folk fishing practices by establishing a permanent zoning and strategy for their residence and working zones.

He said the province aims to develop the area into a fisherman themed tourism attraction, but insists that all illegally constructed houses must be removed without compromise.
