You lot are really making me sick with your comments.

Like that american guy on the other thread saying French people are weak, and proposing walking around with golf clubs.

Those people were put in a situation that they weren't expecting and were attacked with knives and horrible things happened to them that they would never have expected on holiday.

I just hope they can get over the trauma that they have suffered.

Imagine being a mother and seeing your daughter being raped, imagine being a daughter and seeing your mother raped.. That will take a long time to get over.

My simpathys to all involved, it should not have happened.

Why is it that only Thai police investigations start with a confession?

If you are familiar with the British police procedure and how it is reported in the British media, a Thai police "confession" equates with the UK police "helping police with their enquiries." There are rules and regulations in the UK to ensure that an ongoing police investigation and any subsequent prosecution isn't compromised by unattributed speculation and unofficial comments. On the other hand, there's Thailand where regardless of status the crime or the nationality of the victim, there's always someone in a uniform, usually one with lots of 'scrambled egg' on the peak of his cap, running off at the mouth.

I have read many of the posts on this topic.I would just like to know, how many of would keep your nerve and try to put up a fight, when faced with a ignorant, violent, filthy, street rat with a blade, who has every intention a gutting you like a fish, without a second thought. These are Asian kids who know no life,no education, steal to eat and think that we are all millionaires and that our women are all rich sluts because that's what they have been told. There is no social security,no homeless offices,no salvation army, no money every 2 weeks. They live off the street and they take work as they can find it,albeit for a pittance.Of course they are scum and animals. And hopefully they will be punished accordingly(personalty,i hope they get the shit kicked out of them) I am,in no way trying to find a defense for these bas##ds,there is none.Just be glad that you were not borne one of them.

The French might be "sensitive" but they cannot interfere with the Judicial process of another Sovereign Country.

The French State has "form" when it comes to illegal action in other countries. Some may remember the French security services blowing up a ship in Auckland harbour, NZ Murdering a crew member in the process. Leopards and Spots ?

That was over 30 years ago and involved what the French considered to be a threat to its national interests (i.e., Greenpeace protests against France's nuclear bomb tests in the Pacific). Many of our home countries have done illegal acts in other sovereign nations using the rubric of 'national interest' as an excuse. But here we're talking about an individual crime, not a matter of national interest. It's a very different beast ... no leopards and spots here. [That said, I might view things a little differently if Russians were involved].

This will attract the TV conspiracy theorists and the TV "expert" police investigators, lawyers an forensic scientists, who will argue that accusing Cambodians of a crime is a deviation/denial of "real justice"

It already did with post # 3....

Amazing how many of those arrested quickly confess. Sure makes it easy for police....no investigation needed!

How long would it take you to confess if someone put a tazer on your nutsack? smile.png

I agree that a lot of confessions are suspicious, however in this case, the circumstances being what they are, I've a feeling that it is genuine.
