EU unveils multi-million aid plan to help ease migrant crisis

BRUSSELS: -- The European Union has agreed a 3-billion euro aid deal with Turkey to help it shelter refugees, mainly from Syria, in return for preventing their travelling on to Europe.

The move is being widely seen as a response to the crisis as winter weather takes hold.

Tarek, a Syrian migrant from Aleppo said help is needed urgently: “There is not enough tents, because this is very small, two persons, three persons inside, you see old people outside they sleep and wet. It’s too cold.”

The European Commission has also proposed spending an extra 700-million euros over three years to help countries like Greece, struggling to cope with the influx of thousands of migrants.

New temporary border controls in order to stem the flow of people has led to a rapid build up of migrants at the border with Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

With tens of thousands now trapped, the United Nations has warned of a humanitarian disaster.

EU leaders are planning talks with Turkey next week and their own migration summit on March 18.

Why does this read like Erdogan is some sort of "Robber Baron" blackmailing the EU. Pay up or else?

No wonder Merkel kisses his arse and wants to speed up his entry to the EU.

This should have been done at the start of the crisis. Give people in war ravaged countries a proper safe haven in bordering countries. Then back they go when typist deemed safe. Send the economic refugees back home on a one way ticket right away. Make it clear that the EU borders are closed and those few that are allowed in (e.g. for medical reasons) will have to fend for themselves and not live on government hand outs. EU making glacial progress toward the obvious plan.

90% of the money will be skimmed by family and friends of the Erdogan regime. 10 % will

find its way to the refugee camps. The flow of migrants from Turkey will go on unabated.

Turkey will say we are doing everything possible. The flow would be even higher if you

had not given the money. SEND MORE MONEY. and how is our application for EU

membership progressing? Visa free travel through Europe for Turkish citizens? Send

more money.........coffee1.gif

they must have read my post i wrote an hour before ! , " vote for me you fools"!
