I saw it once in Boots chemist a while back, wasn't paying much attention as I was looking for something else.

Dettol sell a similar antiseptic cream to Savlon which I have never been able to find.

There is another one similar;- Bepanthen.

BTW of all the great and various benefits I've had over many years with Savlon, the most recent was for a stubborn case of Tinnea.

Usually this needs dryness and I was reluctant to use it bit it is great.

Good luck.

Savlon contain cetrimide + chlorhexidine

Brand names of creams with the same ingrediants in Thailand are:

Bactricide

Dkka

Dekkalon

Killa

Septol-C

Septrex

I believe the Septol-C is the most widely available. Anyway try asking under all these names

WOW Overherebc, have you got some wonderful research there from Sheryl !

She pops up everywhere with all kinds of wonderful stuff.

Now my Thai relatives have a substitute, & no need to post to them from Oz. Thanks Sheryl.

I was quite prepared to give/post you Savlon if you didnt have a friend or relative to do this.

All the best to you.

BTW About 30 - 40 years ago I bumped into a guy who said he was quite involved with the company when Savlon came into being. I don't remember any antiseptic suspended in cream before this, just liquids - maybe. He said it was quite a remarkable "invention", but I was already convinced having discovered it seems to "soak" into infections under un-broken skin with a decent adhesive strip over it. And now my tinnea. gigglem.gif

Bepanthen is for nappy rash.

Just looked it up and they make three products, one of them is their "First Aid Cream", the only one I knew about.

The ingredients didnt seem to be there on their web site to compare with Savlon, but I've used it and seems OK.

As a spin off from searching, their scar treatment cream interests me now.

So by default, I can thank you.wai2.gif

P.S. Just did a check and Benzalkonium Chloride 500mcg is their stated antiseptic.

Quite different to what Sheryl researched about Savlon.

.

For treatment of scars there's nothing better than "Bio Oil" available in Tesco Lotus, it's a liquid, I've used it after an operation and it helped the wound to heal but the new scar is less noticeable than an older one, I used the oil on the old scar and it became less noticeable. I originally got it before the wife gave birth and it helped reduce any stretch marks. A little goes a long way.

For antiseptic cream, I use "Germolene" cream, it helps my daughter when bitten by mozzies, the itching and swelling disappear almost immediately and it seems to deter the mozzies for a few days.

I have a tube here, its been around since Cocky was a egg.

A great new expression for me and thank you mickjin. But which cream is it?

For any brand with Benzalkonium Chloride in it, I personally would replace it with the original requested brand or from Sheryl's suggestions after reading about new data on this chemical. There is also much older data reporting caution too.:-

"The Cosmetic Safety Database states that there is a moderate to strong evidence that benzalkonium chloride is an immune, skin, and respiratory toxicant, with laboratory tests hinting at mutative (carcinogenic) effects. The safety data sheet (MSDS) indicates the ingredient is a skin and eye irritant, and can be corrosive to both, with the amount of damage depending on the length of contact".
