A country fit to live in? Thailand? And where else?

Recommended Posts

Pretty depressing! Only 5 countries plus one city in the whole world fit to live in!? Sounds like that Randy Newman song.Too hot, too cold, too poor, too dangerous, too bureaucratic, too ethnocentric!

Canada, UK, Thailand, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore I have lived and worked in those 6. And a few others. Once you don't have family and/or work ties you can pretty much live anywhere. Now I live here. I wonder why?

I see very few people talking about southern Portugal and Spain both countries offer dozens of advantages and has very pleasant weather and culture and surprisingly life cost in some cities is even cheaper than Thailand, my own favorite cities are Faro in Portugal and Seville in Spain, 10 months of sunny lovely weather and someone could live really comfortably for less than a 1000$ a month.

As a US ctizen, In the USA a tax free state such as Florida works for me. Great beaches. Lots of stuff to do, night life, classical concerts, casinos, beach stuff, great sea food. Split your time between Florida and Thailand which of course has great stuff to do. One can get relatively cheap but decent housing in many parts of Florida. You don't need to live in Downtown palm beach or boca raton. A few miles make a big price difference

If Florida is tax free why hasn't the entire population of the USA moved there?

But then I Googled it and Florida has more taxes than I've ever seen.... they even expect you to pay tax on online shopping!

To what were you referring??
