LarryLEB Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I am asking for feedback from those who have had a Nd:YAG Capsulotomy done in the Pattaya area. (I have been diagnosed by a retinal specialist here with Posterior Capsular Opacification in the left eye.) How was your experience with the procedure: Where did you have it done? Which doctor? Any complications? Overall satisfaction with the results? Any other info/comments you wish to share. Many thanks!
sunnyjim5 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Before going any further may I suggest you obtain a 2nd opinion from the specialist eye hospital Rutnin in Bangkok. http://www.rutnin.com/eng/
imjmn Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Yes I have had it done in both eyes after IOL implants. Not a big deal. Dilate the eye - Doc does the business to break up the cloud forming in front of the lens in the lens capsule. This allows more light to enter the eye. Commonly called a 'second cataract' - which is not possible as the original lens has been removed. I have one done in Bangkok at Bumrungrad - no issues. Went to the USA and have my surgeon there do one on the other eye - but my eyes were not balanced so I went and had it done again at BPH - this time it was right. The concern it to get equal light coming into both eyes or you will feel off balance and favor one eye over the other. I am set for 'mono-vision' one eye is short and the other is long. Basically I have 20/20 walking around. I used reading glasses before surgery and still do. I use a pair of glasses for driving to help the short eye. The hardest part is maintaining focus on a spot and not moving your eye while the Doc does the business. MJ
Regyai Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Had it done in one eye sometime after IOL surgery in both Had the proceedure done at BPH no fuss , drops etc. and a few seconds at the machine (a bit like a desktop PC with the usual Head cradle affair) They use a system which unlike the 'old' doughnut hole in the posterior (back of) the capsule their machine lasers a cross - the four 'corners' that subsequently creates then naturally curl back making a square opening rather than a round one. The optical result is no different I'm told but the big bonus is that there is apparently much less inter ocular debris created this way
steve187 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 i had it done in the uk, a quick sit in that chair, put head in cradle, and flash all done. i had a retina detachment previously in the same eye, so was a little concerned, I would have it done in Bangkok, but thats my personal thought. I had my retina detachment surgery, (a third of the price of bangkok pattaya hospital), here- http://www.eent.co.th/home.html by a lady Dr somsiri, here is her bumrangrad hospital page - https://www.bumrungrad.com/doctors/Somsiri-Sukavatcharin
