I'm going to have to go to Singapore to get a new Non immigrant "B".

A couple of questions...how long does it take to get from the airport to the Thai Embassy and how much?

Does anyone know of budget accomodation?

Where is it best to by Singapore currency?

any other advice?

Airport to the Embassy will be about a 25 min run by taxi cost S$15..............if you want to go cheaper you could catch the MRT to Orchard and walk but you will need to change MRT lines.

Whats you budget for accomodation?

If you want to stay in Geylang then 1000 baht/night without breakfast is the norm.

I/d recommend you splurge a little bit and try the Allson Hotel (Victoria st?) at 3500 baht a night inc breakfast for 2 (excellent buffet brekkie)...........or Bayview on Bencoolen st. at 3000 a night inc brekkie for 2.

As for currency i normally just use my UK Nationwide Atm card and withdraw from cashpoints.

Check out Asiarooms.com for accomodation or if you are travelling in the next 20 days "Rates to go.com)...........careful though Rates to go exclude tax and service charge whereas Asairooms include it in the quote.

(I/m going myself on the 5th Dec staying at Bayview as Allson full)

Edit.........other advice.......have a beer in the Crossroads bar at the base of the Marriott (a good people watching spot)

If you are watching your budget eat in the food halls located in most of the department mall basements.

If you travel by MRT the price you pay for the trip includes a S$1 deposit dont forget to collect it back when you get off the MRT at the ticketing machine..........i normally collect all my tickets and refund them all on the last day.

If you fancy a day trip out...........try Sentosa Island........ask a taxi to drop you off at the cable cars for Sentosa, costs 250 baht return for cable car to island ....worth doing once.
