Quality Shoe Repairs

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a place that does shoe repairs for good quality shoes. These are ones with leather soles, i.e. the old style proper quality shoes, not the quick ones that just glue a heel on the sole.

Name, location and approx cost would be appreciated.

Thanks

Under the pedestrian bridge by Mc Cormick hospital has a very good following, reputably one of the best in CM. no idea of cost.

Why would you glue a heel on the sole, wouldn't that make walking awkward? Surely a heel needs to be glued to the heel!

Good point JLT you know what i mean though, gluing a sole or heel on the shoe. You dont work in Dubai do you, just your moniker resonates but more likely yo be your initials lol

Be very careful and don't go to any of those places under bridges or near Universities, as they only know how to repair cheap shoes. They will destroy your shoes. The only guy who does an O.K. job is the guy at Chang Phueak, but he has integrity and will tell you that you won't be happy and recommends having them repaired next time you are in Bangkok.

I learned my lesson a few years ago when I took a beautiful pair of Italian shoes I paid about 160 Euros for in Europe to one of these places. I needed new soles and told the guy I wanted a top-quality job. He assured me he could do it and I paid him a deposit for the soles. When I picked them up I instantly saw the cheap rubber soles, terrible stitching, and glue all over. I was furious but figured I'd get them re-done when I was in Bangkok. When I got home, I tried them on and could no longer get my feet in the shoes. They don't make size 44/45 soles and sell them at Kad Luang or wherever these guys buy their materials. The guy hacked off some of the beautiful leather and fitted size 42 soles! Shortly thereafter I met the guy at Chang Phueak and showed him the shoes and he told me the other guy had destroyed my shoes. He worked on them for an hour at no charge to see if there was enough leather to put the shoes back to their normal size and resole them in Bangkok. He showed me where the guy took a knife and cut off the leather. Beautiful Italian shoes, destroyed!

That is just so wrong on so many levels. It beggars belief how he thought he would get away with it. I mean did he honestly think you wouldn't notice?!
