BANGKOK, 19 March 2016 (NNT) – The Association of Village Chiefs has asked the Constitution Drafting Commission (CDC) to maintain the provision pertaining to provincial administration in the new charter.

Dr. Amorn Wanichwiwatana, CDC spokesperson, received the petition which calls for the drafting team not to leave out the chapter concerning the Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO). Representatives from the association also asked that clause number 5 in Section 49 which pertains to the state’s duties be revised, in order to allow the government to bring effective reform to central, regional, and local administrations.

In reply, Dr. Amorn assured the association that the drafting body placed great emphasis on provincial administration and had no plans to terminate the PAO.

He took this opportunity to ask all village headmen to inform people in their respective areas, of details of the permanent constitution and the upcoming public referendum.

Sounds about right from this unelected government; you spread our propaganda and we won't can you. Mind you, I believe 4 or 5 year elections would be a step in the right direction.

The PM wants to stamp out corruption? The PAO needs to be on his list. Two weeks ago there was an election for puyai ban in this village with two candidates running. Both of them tried to buy my gf's vote with 300 Baht which she refused. They are all crooks.

But nothing in the draft will be revised, albeit unless it comes from the Four Rivers. You are not even a dribble.

Thank you for your petition. I will share the names of who signed it with Prayut who is keeping a list of influential people. wai2.gif

As long as the Provincial Governors are appointed by Bangkok they and their administrations are ripe for corruption

This is just a ploy to get the PAO to continue it's time at the trough via legitimizing it via the new constitution, which will only be new until the next coup
