The new middle class of chinese have not yet developed the travel culture. I also have experienced unpleasant chinese tourists on the road but I believe they will eventually learn to be more respectful of other people and their ways.

Don't we love them, those "high quality tourists" whom Thai authorities permanently try to "lure" in with ever new freebies and goodies and relaxed visa schemes, to boost Thai tourism? I feel great being surrounded by so much Hi Quality now, I love it!!!!

When has it ever been a high class destination? As long as I can remember Thailand has always attracted very low class tourists. I think some foreigners here start to get a bit deluded as to who they really are, they emigrated with a bit of money which seemed a lot here and suddenly they thought they were middle class, I meet them a lot, very low class people with their noses in the air, funny bunch, but I guess benefiting from the economy is the closest they will come to being important.

Difficult to comprehend why the Chinese tourists act like this. When on an Air Asia flight from Phuket to Bangkok in early February this year, the plane was full of Chinese passengers. Immediately upon landing everyone was on their feet and grabbing their bags from the overhead lockers. The plane had to stop on the runway and wait for ten minutes of air traffic to be cleared before proceeding for another ten minutes to the terminal. In that time there was a near riot on the plane with the Thai Air-hostesses desperately trying to persuade everyone to put their bags back into the lockers, sit down and belt up again. The Chinese gave the Air-hostesses serious verbal grief and this continued when we finally started to disembark. Unbelievable behaviour. I am sure many of us have witnessed similar scenes in a variety of tourist settings where the Chinese are shouting, barging past, spitting and being generally foul. What IS the matter with them?

I was on a Sri Lankan flight from Hong Kong to Bangkok 20 years ago. It was full of mainland tourists. After the meals were eaten the mainlanders put there trays on the floor in the aisle and tossed all the rubbish on the floor as well. The cabin crew had to pick it all up. As soon as the wheels hit the runway everyone was up opening the overhead lockers. The cabin crew were shouting, trying to get everyone back in their seats but they were verbally abused and one stewardess had rubbish thrown at her. I can vividly remember her being hit by bread roll and it bouncing off. She was furious but kept her cool.

I flew China Southern to LAX last year and was very apprehensive about flying with them. A380 flight I was worried it would be hellish. No problem at all. BKK to Guangzhou only a couple of old timers jumped as the plane touched down and were quickly ordered back into their seats. Into LAX only one guy jumped up on landing, like he was in a race but was quickly put back in his seat. The male cabin crew on CZ seem to bigger than average Chinese and although neat and tidy and courteous they definitely look like they can handle any agro that may occur.

I must admit using another plate as a scoop is a good idea but dont think i will do it on my next hotel visit .

This nation takes life jackets off the plane and i have seen a group taking blackets on a flight and stuffing them in there baggage as soon as they are given them .

So typical. You ought to see the "exit frenzy" when you are on a plane full of Chinese landing in Macau. They are out of their seats rushing the front BEFORE THE PLANE EVEN LANDS. Just so they can get a perceived jump on the immigration lines. The same Chinese that gang-rushed the airplane exit I later see in the taxi queue only a couple of persons in front of me - - - and I walked (they ran and pushed) off the plane and to immigration.

I was in Vegas last year when a Chinese sports group was at my casino/hotel. They did the same thing and children were involved. One kid had a plate with a kilo of bacon on it. Oh, and on the way to Vegas I stopped in Beijing and stayed in a business hotel. No water or coffee, forks, knives or food to eat for that matter. Just bowls of soup you poured down your throat. Savages. I've seen the eyes of these people who seem to be on an acid trip.

The best way forward is for these buffets to adapt to the customers. The buffet can be served by staff from dim sum style carts or from behind a counter. The tourists can be given the food and not have the option of taking it themselves. It will reduce the chaos and the waste. They can still eat as much as they want.

I've always heard the stories about how rude and mannerless the Chinese tourists were and just took it as probably an isolated incident. WOW, they are a bunch of animals at a feeding trough. The waste of that food leaves me almost speechless.

I travelled china a few years ago. I ate at many buffets. The chinese looked at me in amazement as my plate was clean as I ent back up to get more food.

It seemed to be a competition amonst them to see who could waste the most.

The government and TAT need the Chinese purely so they can quote tourism figures are up and hotel occupancy rates are high.... The Thai people certainly could do without these type of tourists..... I wonder if Thais will start to realise just how good the Western tourists that they've lost were.

If I was the pilot I'd be tempted to hit the brakes hard while these idiots were out of their seats. (or do a quick climb for those that get up before the plane lands)

Many "all you can eat" places have a policy... At the time of the bill, any food left in plates will get a charge "a la carte"..and it is not cheap, like the Andaman Sea Food Buffet in Chaing Mai.

Probably this place..or the Chinese.... learned a lesson. Anyway was disgusting behavior.

That sounds like a good idea, but only one thing. I love buffets, and always put a bit less on my plate than I think I want, and if I want more I just go back and get some.

But if something is badly cooked, or stone cold when it should be warm, and I left it, there is no way I would pay for it.

On my first day in Singapore, I was wondering why they charge people extra for leftovers from an "all you can eat" buffet. Having breakfast the next morning I learned,- this is the only way for a restaurant with Chinese customers to survive.

Some of them even came with plastic bags in their Louis Vuitton handbags to bring as much as possible home. Now you can imagine why all Chinese Buddha statues are fat, while the original (Gautama) was not.
