Song Kran curtailed by the General

Featured Replies

Just on the news,

Announcement by the General.

Song Kran to be on 13th April, all bars and business to close at 8pm, party over.

No other days allowed.

Doesn't bother me, if fact I'm happy (Bah Humbug).

But CM is a tourist town, and many foreigners would have booked to be here for the week.

Can't see this is helpful to tourism, changing the rules after holidays have been booked and paid for.

Did he give any reasons?

I can go with the saving water parts, we lived in Melbourne through an almost 15 year drought and it got to the point where they had to build a desalination plant - but the rest?

I really feel for local businesses, a lot of them annoy me for different reasons, but this is peak season in Chiang Mai.

Be the change that you wish to see in the world.

Mahatma Gandhi

Does that mean 14/4 and 15/4 we won't get wet if we go outdoors? I was planning to stock up food and stay at home for this period.

Your guess is a s good as mine.

Enforcement of anything and everything is iffy here.

Great ,but why 8 pm ?,as the unwritten rule is that you do not throw water after night fall ,aprox 6.30 pm .
