ratcatcher
How tragically ironic that the young lady murdered by the Mercedes Benz driver Jenphob had the nickname of "Benz"?
BSJ
What a waste of life. The Mercedes Benz driver Jenphob needs to do some hard time for this tragedy.

robblok
Great that they added DUI to the charge, i said in an other topic to Twais that I thought it would be unlikely given the power that rich family had. I am happy I have to eat my words and see that its added to the charge. Twais you were right and I was wrong and I am more than happy about it. Lets see how the court case goes and hope they keep the pressure on.
jamesbrock
What a terribly sad waste of two promising young lives. Again, it's great that the ongoing pressure from social media users have led to the dismissal of the original investigation team, and the new DUI charges. Let's hope that pressure continues and this entitled scum gets to see some real justice.

tx22cb
"Obstruction of justice was ... dropped because investigators could not agree on whether the charge covered Jenphop’s refusal to take a sobriety test ... " I rather suspect that the Obstruction charge was dropped because Jenphop did not obstruct anything - the bent cops never asked Jenphop for a blood test, but were in fact expediting his transfer out of the province back to Bangkok. likewise
No intention to rain on anybody's parade here, but as history has shown; nobody is going to prison ! Also read my reply about the crackdown on cops from last week...... Don't forget they are masters of creating mirrors of smoke.
Cpkt8
Bigger and louder public outcry + media is needed to give pressure to the authorities to bring justice to these murderers! All these hiso a$$holes think money and power can get them off hook. All lives are precious- regardless rich or poor.

How can you use DUI as an excuse for killing someone, seeing as it the cause? In the same way that rape is justified by, " She wear a short skirt and I just could not help myself." It is part of the ubiquitous use of anything that avoids or transfers responsibility. The end of your sentence, "seeing as it (is) the cause" makes the point; being drunk becomes something separate from the person who had too much to drink. Make no mistake, this goes on in other countries as well, but thanks to a citizen organization, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and it's 15 year political work, I do not think there is one state in the U.S. that allows being drunk, and therefore not in control, to be used as a defense. What this scum-bag did would yield 10-15 years locked up. Just one more item on the list that needs fixing before Thailand can be a "developed" country. razer
All the Thais I know think this case will go the way of the rich girl who killed 9 people in a van and got community service. She did not do the community service and police haven't a clue what to do next. It surely is now out of the hands of the police, and the "justice system" is responsible for the present laughable situation where the young woman is dictating the terms of her so-called community service etc.

stephenterry
This is now a high profile case with the pictures of the young students representing excellent Thai behaviour. I would like to hope the victims families will be satisfied when the scumbag goes to jail -and without bail. If not, I hope there will be a public outcry, as this case will not be buried like so many others before.

skildpadden
This is not being cynical but if the tragic death of these two bright students could bring anything postive, it would be that there is at least a chance to get this hiso idiot behind bars before he goes out and kills again.Let's face it - if it was an ordinary Somchai and his wife that got killed - no one would hardly notice. Or if it was a Lao citizen, the families would get 100.000 THB each and that would be the end of it (anybody remember the other hiso that clipped a Lao girl with his Porsche in half with her torso landing in the passenger seat - I believe they settled on 100K?). So sick of people like you jumping on anything a person posts, I've had it with this forum, it's happening all too often, everytime I read a new post there is someone who wants to have a go at them. This is an information forum and some people may be interested in knowing that the guy is gay. I did not make judgement on his sexuality I merely passed on information that was available to Thais who watch the news. It must be relevant to some people as it was broadcast nationally on Thai TV. I had a feeling some frustrated moron would jump on my case. Happy to oblige you, does not change the fact that his sexuality is irrelevant, and if you think calling something irrelevant is jumping on your case you should grow a thicker skin. kiwikeith
Hopefully the public will keep this story alive until justice is served. What an utter waste of life. The police have the opportunity to make an example to the public of this Jerk who thinks he is above the law and above everyone else. I hope the public do maintain pressure,if the police send this jerk to prison for a long time it will do more good and set an example to other rich bratts and drunken drivers that your going to get nailed. On the other hand as it pans out over time and appeals the public will forget and the mongrel will get off with a light sentance in ten years time. That's as tragic as this horrible crime and the horrible pain he has inflicted on the familys of the victims.
seajae
if they do put this cretin in jail it will make them look stupid for not putting all the other hi-so's that killed people driving in jail as well. The fact that here if you have the right last name or are well connected/wealthy you get to avoid all the consequences of your actions is just too ingrained in the system, its only the poor/middle class that actually are held responsible in this country, very pathetic legal system. nuananddon
IMO, it all depends on how much money this guy has and how high up are his connections. If he's highly connected don't look for any real justice only some eyewash and a dog and pony show. One the other hand what are the connections of the aggrieved families, that could play big in this.
