PHUKET: -- The Chief of the Phuket Provincial Police, Col Teeraphol Thipjaroen, has warned motorists against drink-driving during the upcoming Thai New Year Songkran holidays.

“Phuket will continue with the campaign against drink-driving as ordered by the NCPO (National Council for Peace and Order) to enable people to travel safely over Songkran,” he told The Phuket News today (Mar 22).

“Drunk drivers will be arrested and punished in accordance with the law” he added.

However, unlike as announced in the capital Bangkok (see here), police in Phuket will not be impounding cars for set periods under their own authority.

“We will carry out our normal procedure in case of drunk driving here,” Col Teeraphol said.

" To enable people to travel safely over Songkran. "

You can just take your chances for the rest of the year.

Safety and Songkran is an oxymoron

'' We will carry out our normal procedure for drunk driving here'' He means it will be ignored.

What is the drink driving limit in Thailand?

currently you can drink as much as you want until you crash.....

What is someone is stopped and they dont want to take the breath test? Seems to happen quite a lot without any consequences
