Looks like I'll be using a company in C M to renew my retirement extension in May. Can anyone done one recently with a company please tell me exactly what documents I will need to do so please?

While it would be good to know what is required if doing so in person, I really want to know what is required by a company, as may be different.

I also need to know how much time I need to allow before previous one expires as I'll have to book my flight to get back in time

Be good to know any recommends for companies, and the cost.

Thank you.

I think you should ask the agent you will be using about what is needed.

You can apply up to 30 days early. You can apply on the last day if you want to.

Thanks for replying. I may not be in Thailand till near the renewal date so I need to know beforehand what I need so as not to waste time. I don't even know where the companies are or if they will be able to take me if time is tight.

I know I can apply on the last day, but will a company only require one day to do so? It also gives no room for error.

Surely someone has used a company recently that can tell me what I need?

Most people do not use companies as it is so easy to do it yourself.

I know exactly what doing it myself is like as I have done so several times.

This time I want to use a company and would like information related to that.

Hopefully someone will be able to answer my question.

Please don't say look it up on the Internet. I have done so and the only company that comes up is Assistthaivisa. I know there are more companies than that out there.

Good luck doing that on the last day in Chiang Mai if you can't get a q card.

Far from easy in the case of Chiang Mai, I suspect, thanks to that particular office's fundamentally and blatantly brazen incompetence as graphically illustrated in several threads on both this forum and the Chiang Mai one.

In particular, I gather that retirees who "do their own thing" at annual extension of stay time are required to camp out outside the office overnight from 11pm the previous day in order to stand any chance of submitting their application the next day!

OP - is there really no info on the Chiang Mai forum as regards suitable agents? Might be worth your while putting out a query there if you get no joy here.

^ thanks.

According to posts #3 and #4 in the pinned thread on the Chiang Mai forum at http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/881962-immigration-promenada-one-stop-service-2016/, there appears to be an organisation (or somebody) called G4T who might do this for 3,000 THB. Might be worth your while PM'ing HenryB for their contact details.

EDIT: having now scanned through subsequent posts on that thread it would seem that G4T are pretty well-known and widely used in your neck of the woods!

Now got to post #139 in that thread, which includes the following info that might be useful to you:-

"G4T is located a couple of doors down from the immigration at Promenada. They charge 3,000 baht to get you a 365 day extension and I believe 300 baht to do your 90 day report. Visa wise I think that is all they do. Thai Assist located on Chiang Mai Land road does all the various Visa connected things."

I don't think the documents required by an agent will be any different to those if you do it yourself. IMO you are paying someone x baht (3,000?) to queue up for you.

If you read my posts you would have seen that I might not be back in Thailand till near time to renew and I can't q up from midnight just to have a chance of getting seen that day. I need to use a company to guarantee getting an extension in time. NOTHING to do with the documents required.

I asked about the documents ( which I would have done even had I been doing it myself ) because the requirements change every time I have done an extension.

It would help if you could be more specific about the basis for your extension -- marriage or retirement and whether you're using an Income letter from your Consulate/Embassy (nationality please) or a bank account for the financial justification.

The two visa agencies with the best reputation in Chiang Mai are O.S. Thai Visa and Assist Thai Visa. If you email them they can tell you what documents are needed, or if you supply the info requested in the paragraph above, we can tell you.

G4T isn't a real visa agency. They merely serve to secure a queue ticket for you on the day and help you fill out the forms. You have to show up at their office with all the right forms. If you don't have them, then you have to come back another day. They don't have a website, email or phone number to contact in advance to make inquiries. All you "buy" with their service is the ability to jump the queue.

I read your posts and you are clearly asking what documents are required by an agent. That question can only be answered by the agent!

The standard documents/requirements for a Retirement extension are:-

  • Application form TM7.
  • 1 x photo,
  • Signed copies of you passport; ID page, Visa, Stamps, Departure card.
  • Updated bank passbook and letter from the bank confirming 800K or a certified letter from your Embassy confirming your income or combination.
  • Proof of address and/or maybe form TM30 from the owner/house-master of the address you live at.
  • 1,900 baht.

I used G4T right next to I/o office promenade. I gave them residence cert. And passport they did everything else but signing my name a dozen times. Totally stress free

According to his OP it's a retirement extension he'll be after.

You can apply up to 30 days early..

However post #3 in the Chiang Mai pinned thread at http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/881962-immigration-promenada-one-stop-service-2016 states up to 45 days early at Chiang Mai. If this is true might it be possible for you to endure the rigours of the dreaded "Promenada Extension Of Stay Renewal Experience" before your departure to foreign parts, OP?

Bit difficult as I made the OP after being overseas already.

To NancyL pointing out I hadn't mentioned the money, sorry, it's in the bank for 3 months ( longer actually ). I said in the OP that it's retirement ( thought marriage extensions were at the airport office ).

Thank you augustwest for your reply.

Alviajero- I asked for someone that had used an agent to tell me what that agent asked for, but thanks for your reply.

I think that augustwest has the best solution, though I would be best to be back more than a week prior, from the looks of it.

BTW, I also posted on the C M forum and have had a lot of replies from there.

Thanks to all that replied.
