PATTAYA: Workers from the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation were called to an NGV gas station in Nongplalai, Banglamung in the early hours of Thursday morning following reports a bus had caught fire, reports Thaivisa news.

The parked tour bus had reportedly burst into flames while parked at the Siam Best gas station while the driver was asleep inside the vehicle, just after 3.30am.

Miraculously the driver managed to escape unhurt.

It took fire officers more than 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

The tour bus was said to be operated by Golden Thai Travel Co., Ltd., and was due to pickup Chinese tourists from their hotel in Pattaya on Thursday morning.

The driver, Mr. Sathit Kachai, 27, told rescue workers how he had finished preparing the bus for the passengers he was due to pick up the next day when he decided to go to sleep in the multipurpose compartment at the rear side of the coach, as all drivers do when they have a break.

However, he was woken by a burning smell to find that the front side of the vehicle was on fire. He tried in vain to put out the flames using an on board fire extinguisher, but the fire was too strong and quickly got out of control, engulfing the whole bus.

It was then he called the emergency services.

The police added that they have collected evidence from the scene in order to try and establish the cause of the fire.

As we know, buses are the cause of all bus related accidents and not the drivers.

As an example, a few days ago a bus took off all by itself and ran some people down while still in the bus terminal.

clearly that bus had some issues with humans.

perhaps this bus decided to commit suicide.

Do the Chinese get a refund if the bus didn't arrive ?

No because the brake pads/shoes were supplied by China and that has not yet been ruled out as the cause.

One down, 11ty billion to go.

One less bus to run over my motorbike.

My thoughts exactly, nearly forced off the road by one recently also in the same area.

Sitting behind them waiting is also screwing up my lungs.
