Khem Sokha sex scandal: Sister in Law of Srey Mom Responds to Investigation

The woman at the center of an alleged sex scandal involving acting president of the opposition CNRP Kem Sokha is now being dragged into court for more questioning due to allegations that she lied to police about her relationship with Mr. Sokha and about allegedly being a prostitute during an interview with Interior Ministry officials.

Khom Chandaraty, who went by Srey Mom on Facebook and was the woman rumored to be the mistress of Mr. Sokha, said she is considering acquiring a lawyer and has yet to decide whether to heed a summons by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, according to Ms. Chandaraty’s sister-in-law, who spoke with Khmer Times yesterday. The summons is for questioning over allegations Ms. Chandaraty previously gave false testimony about her relationship with Mr. Sokha as well as her occupation.

The embattled hairdresser was summoned to appear in court this Friday for questioning by deputy prosecutor Sieng Sok over a police report submitted to the court. Ms. Chandaraty’s sister-in-law, who asked to remain nameless, said that after receiving the warrant, Ms. Chandaraty was shocked. “The testimony that [Ms. Chandaraty] gave to the police at the Interior Ministry was all true. What the police accused her of, being involved in prostitution, is adversely affecting the whole family’s reputation. We feel so ashamed now,” the sister-in-law said.
