Hi, currently I am in Bangkok. Does somebody know if you can still buy Tramadol legally otc ? If yes maybe you could tell me a pharmacy in Bangkok.

Thank you.

Legal ? Yes

Some pharmacies will sell others will not owing to various restrictions placed on the sale of the drug.

You should try large Pharmacies who always have a Pharmacist (not a shop girl) available.

As above. Legal but with specific conditions attached...must have a grade one pharmacist always on duty and maintain record of all sales. Many pharmacies don't meet first criteria and many also don't want the bother of the second.

Those that do sell it will usually do so only in limited quantity and not to customers that appear in any way dodgy to them. This is because the Thai FDA is closely monitoring dales of this drug.

tramadol is opiode

so be ware of the down sides of this drug.my

advice is get a medical thai 'passport' in where a medical doctor has prescribed you this drug.

Wow, i thought it was illegal in Thailand now. I used it after a surgery in the states. It is a nasty drug IMO. Chronic constipation, and when I quit using it I was a bit wobbly for a few weeks. Not a good idea to take it IMO unless you have too.

It effects people in diffrent ways. Its good to keep a strip for emergencies. Kids here started to abuse it so the govt stepped in.

Some people also suffer hallucinations, confusion etc.

it is certainly not something to take casually or unnecessarily.

Does somebody know if I have to ask for tramadol or a brand like ultracet? Because I experienced that thais often don't understand English. I found an empty package of ultracet on the street today do you think it is a good idea to just take the package with me and ask them if they sell this medication ?

Most Pharmacists understand spoken and written English.

Pharmacists know what "Tramadol" is and what generic equivalents are available.

Pleased to learn your are contributing to the litter picking drive ! smile.png

I find at pharmacies it helps greatly to write down the name, they will often not understand what you say but will recognize the written name. (Thais have their own way of pronouncing English words).

Ultracet is tramadol + paracetemol, ask for it only if that is what you want. If you want tramadol alone ask for tramadol. Several brand names of plain tramadol are themselves tramadol i.e.

Tramadol Stada, Tramadol T P, Tramadol Utopian.

Large pharmacies only, not places like Boots etc.

Tramadol is only available in pharmacies that consistently have a Grade 1 pharmacist on duty, which is rarer than you might think. Also, only in pharmacies willing to go to the trouble of the required record keeping. Both of these tend to equate to larger pharmacies.

Hard to suggest a pharmacy without knowing where in Bangkok you are. If in the lower Sukhumvit area, there is a large pharmacy near Soi 2 (but directly on Sukhumvit) sort of opposite the expressway entrance. Can't guarantee they have it but good chance, there has been a genuine pharmacist behind the counter the times I have been there,

Thank you. Can you tell me names of big pharmacys? I am heading to phuket tomorrow. So tramadol isn't available in smaller pharmacys?

It can be obtained from Fascino's. Found on Sainamyen Rd. near the hospital in Patong.

Only a limited quantity will be dispensed.

Most small pharmacies cannot or do not wish to meet the required standards which must be met before sales can be made.

Thank you @Sheryl I am currently around 8.8 km away from the pharmacy you named. I think I have to try it tomorrow because it's almost 9pm.

Thank you too @johnatong maybe I will try it at fascinos in a few days when I am in phuket.

What is the maximum amount you are allowed to buy ?

You will pay a fortune for ultracet ! just ask for tramadol and you will get generic brand but still does the job at a fraction of the cost

Tramadol is well regulated in Bangkok so expect to be disappointed unless your just after 1 strip

Have been taking it since 2001 with absolutely no side effects so clearly affects us all differently. Modified slow release version I'm referring to 100mg

Appreciate thats not Bangkok but you can PM me and will give you location if you want it rather than possibly making problems for pharmacy by naming
