DLT Roadside Inspections

Recommended Posts

Last weekend, between Fang and Thaton, DLT had an inspection crew working. Bunch of commercial trucks pulled off the side of the road. Guys in coveralls underneath them, men and women checking paperwork. Few pulled off the road - for defects I presume. Drivers not visible. Windows rolled up. First time I have ever seen this. Progress is being made.

Good to see the roadside checks, though more are required.

Many faults seen at night whereby trucks and others have faulty lights, or no lights working.

Also saw last night heading to Moray, a Ute with a bagged load overhanging the back of the Ute and covering the rear lights.

90 percent of drivers seen last night were great, although 10 percent is still too many of ignorant, arrogant, impatient and unlawful drivers/vehicles to be on the road.

There are a lot of truck check points / weigh stations on the main routes in Thailand.

I hope that for serious / dangerous defects they have a system similar to that in the UK where the vehicle is not allowed to proceed any further until fixed.
