BANGKOK: A construction worker hit his coworker over the head with a dumbbell Friday killing him in their house in Pathum Thani, north of Bangkok.

The murderer then coolly fetched their boss to come and look at the corpse before running off.

Police are on the trail of a man called Surawut (no surname supplied) who witnesses said had been arguing with the deceased in their one storey townhouse on the White House estate in Klong Luang 1, Soi 5.

Klong Luang police found the body of Bunsom Kaewduangdee, 47, who they say had been dead for at least six hours. A dumbbell was found lying next to the body.

Bunsom was sent for autopsy to Thamasat Chalern Prakiat Hospital while police checked CCTV to see where the suspect went.

LOS.. Getting more and more out of hand & dangerous

I think you will find that murders are not just happening in Thailand.

The whole world is 'getting more and more out of hand & dangerous'.

Agreed, but this is Thai Visa Forum and the incident occurred in THAILAND, not somewhere else in the world. Why not try commenting on the OP for a change?

Why do the reporters also report stories from all around the world, if, as you seem to think, everything should be restricted to happenings in Thailand ?

I don't think that's entirely true.

Crime rates in the US, Canada, England and a lot of Europe have been declining for decades. Thailand has been on the rise.

Instead of going on 'figures' manipulated by the governments of those countries, try reading local, not national, newspapers, from the same countries.

How many murders, and other serious crimes, committed in, say, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Ko Samui, to name a few, ever make major headlines in the Bangkok Post ?

Very few, and I'm pretty certain this one won't get a mention either.

Very thoughtful fellow...calling his boss...just another case for testing all Thai for mental health disorders...

If it was not so sad, this would be just another incident logged in the Police files, however calling your boss to look then running away puts anew sl;ant of the investigation, amazing they do not know his surname.

The incident must weigh heavily on the offender, but running away is completely normal this is after all Thailand and people run away from any incident in which they are at fault , why should a murder be any different.

Erm, no, simply not true. I know for a fact that homicide rates in the UK (Where i am from have plummeted), indeed all over the "Western" World murder rates are falling and falling dramatically. I know that the UK is a far safer place now than it has ever been, I know people may say otherwise but I notice it and I feel it. People who say otherwise are just speculating and quoting that overused phrase "things are going to pot" when in fact they certainly are not.

Below are some statistics, however you can google a lot of information of crime stats and murder rates for yourself as well in the West. However, for Thailand the story is different, gun crime is rising at a rapid rate and homicide overall is on the increase as are many other crimes. I suspect rampant corruption doesn't help where you can literally get away with murder here if you great the right palm/s.

So, before making those sweeping statements check you facts first, SMEW is right, Thailand is getting more dangerous, whether you want to hear it or not its a simple fact.

So you are basing your theory on figures from over 2 years ago.

Since then, exactly how many immigrants have arrived, mostly illegal, and are committing crimes ?

You can not say how many, in fact, the government cannot either. The country is a mess, and I am so happy I left 11 years ago.

Good luck to you living there, in the belief that crime is falling, and it is becoming a better place.

I dont live there, but I visit, and its not theory if its based on facts,,, your assumption is theory based on, well, nothing..

Do some research for yourself, the stats are continuing, so pretty useless argument. As for immigrants, show me where it says that immigrants increase the murder rate? It doesn't, another pointless argument.

I suspect you are telling yourself I am wrong because you have made the decision to cut ties and move to a place that is far worse but you don't want to face up to it, so you stick to the myth that the UK is going to pot as it makes you feel better,, fact is you are wrong. UK is moving on economically and socially, some areas slowly granted but its still moving forward.

As I said do some research, you will see what I am saying is true and you can see that crime and murder IS increasing in Thailand at an alarming rate.

Facts not wives tales and nostalgia.

I am basing my opinion on facts, not feeling alone. I don't understand your point, what has the newspapers decision to run a story or not got to do with factual crime figures? I think you need to wake up and smell the coffee if you don't think the situation in Thailand is steadily declining on almost every level...

I cannot be bothered reprinting all the useless bumf you have quoted.

Over here, I have access to UK TV.

Each time I watch Crimewatch, the only names and faces you see are not British. They all moved there and crime amongst them is rife. Poles, Hungarians, Somalians, just to name a few.

The child grooming gangs that were convicted in Greater Manchester, Yorkshire, Derbyshire, etc. were all of Asian origin. OK, they all, rightfully so, got heavy prison sentences, but who foots the bill to keep them in the cushy prisons ? Mr English, who has lived there, and paid tax there all his life does.

Over here, each incident about a murder is reported on Thaivisa, and people, like yourself, proclaim that it is one of the most dangerous places to live on the planet.

After Paris and Brussels, I just hope non of my family or friends are caught up in ISIS's next major attack, as most of us know where their favoured target is.

I feel much safer here, thank you.

Thailand is, statistically a dangerous place to live in, call it useless bumf if you want to bury your head in the sand. But then again you watch Crimewatch so you must have a clear grasp of things.

If you can't be bothered to do your own research then theres nothing more to say.

Glad you feel safe, ill informed maybe but feeling safe is important. Good luck to you, me, I will stick to facts rather then baseless sentiment.

I agree, there are TVF stories from all around the world. If for instance there is a story about an incident in France , would you respond to it by quoting what happens in Thailand? If you choose to, that's your prerogative, but it isn't relevant to the OP.

One poster made a comment that Thailand is getting more dangerous, which is fair comment.

I merely pointed out, that this trait is not restricted to Thailand, and the fact that I, personally, feel safer here, than I would do in my country of birth.
