Does the Thai consulate in Penang offer same day SETV?

Featured Replies

Does the Thai consulate in Penang offer same day single entry tourist visas?

Is there anything else you need to apply for a SETV in Penang besides passport, 2 photos and the application form?

NO same day service.

Apply and pick up on the next working day.

1. No.

2. Signed copy of your passport.

1. No.

So they changed this?

Use to be able to get a single entry tourist visa same day.

I did that many times in the past.

Good to know if I ever need it again and when advising people, when did they change this?

They did the same-day processing for a couple of months in late 2014. It wasn't sustainable, so they stopped it.

Other than that, it was always next business day pickup for several years now.

In very exceptional cases, I know same day applications can be possible (such as hurrying to a relative in hospital in Bangkok). It is also conceivable an agent might be able to arrange it at significant extra cost. In principle, next day only.

Anyone knows where I can download the application form for a single entry tourist visa for the Penang consulate? http://www.thaiembassy.org/penang/ - This website only seems to be in Thai.

They will be closed the 22nd and 25th of this month. See: Penang Royal Thai Consulate Temporary Relocation and Closure

Thank you for this info, hadn't heard about this change.

Must have done my last Tourist visa there just before that changed.

just got one there last week

dropped off passport, form, payment, photos and signed passport copy at about 10am on Monday, picked up my passport with my new SETV on Tuesday after 2pm. Was a nice smooth process with only minimal queuing.

you will also need 150 RM to pay, you cannot pay in baht.

there is a small van parked outside the consulate were you can do the required photocopies and photo's if you do not have them in advance.

Cool stuff, thanks for info. Will skip KBV in May and go with Missus.
