Hi I put in my application for a single entry visa last week in Vientiane, but because of the holidays I can't pick up til the 19th

So I went to Vang Vieng now I am so relaxed here I want to stay longer

Will it be OK to pick it up late?

If i am refused a visa and they only give me 15 days will those 15 days start on the 19th?

If thats the case I can't waste time in Vang Vieng

It might be a good idea to give the consulate a call or even better to send an email to let them know when you plan to collect your passport, as a matter of courtesy. Enjoy your rest and recreation in Laos!

If you are refused a visa "they" will give you nothing.

You might be given a 15 day visa exempt entry to Thailand by the Thai border Immigration Officers if you qualify for such an entry.

For future reference no is the answer to that question lol

They gave me my passport back with no visa just a sticky page where there was one before!!!

And told me I need to apply again, and pointed to my receipt which said something about void if late,

But at least they did not take the 1000THB

Oh well 4 nights in Vienente it is

Yeah, last time when I was there I was informed that if I won't collect my passport on the next day my visa will be cancelled.

I thought it is just a threat but after I read your post I know it wasn't.

The way they did it to you is childish. Removed visa from passport? I would report that to my embassy, that officials actually destroy my passport. I'm not sure if they can or can not do that but I think the proper way to cancel the visa is to stamp it. Anyway, nice promotion for Thai tourism.

I remember I was there with my Thai girlfriend and when she wanted to ask something that girls who collect applications she was shocked how rude and unpleasant they are. She told me she is ashamed for her country after visiting Vientiane embassy.

No problems for me with visa, as I was there to collect my passport on the next day. I have been to Vang Vieng for one night... By car lol. Never again.
