webfact
BMTA gives details on NGV bus procurement TORBANGKOK, 19 April 2016 (NNT) – The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) has elaborated on the details of the draft Term of Reference (TOR) related to the procurement of new NGV buses ahead of concession bidding this July.A meeting was organized by the BMTA to inform automotive companies, anti-corruption agencies, press members and public bus users of all contents of the draft TOR on the procurement of 489 NGV buses. BMTA Director Surachai Eamvachirasakul pointed out that the new draft is similar to the previous one, with clarifications or amendments having been made to certain issues. For example, the draft TOR, which already covers the bidding for the NGV bus procurement concession, is now inclusive of vehicle maintenance services as well, prompting the bidding price to increase from 1.7 billion baht to 4 billion baht. Moreover, the required amount of bank guarantee has been reduced from 1 billion baht to 10 percent of the bidding price in order to allow new bus operators a chance to partake in the auction. General specifications have been kept unchanged, with the vehicle type being low-floor buses valued at 3.6 million baht each.Following the disclosure of such details, if there are no objections raised, the BMTA will initiate the electronic bidding process for the procurement concession on July 8.-- NNT 2016-04-
Thian
Smart move to also buy maintenance upfront. I hope BKK gets perfect buses now and soon! Also we need the 300 firetrucks up and running, 8 years waiting was enough.

Also we need the 300 firetrucks up and running, 8 years waiting was enough. These ones? Not going to happen. After ten years of baking in the sun, soaking in the floods, they're pretty much junk. $180 million down the drain... Let's hope that the busses actually get used. Srikcir
now inclusive of vehicle maintenance services as well, prompting the bidding price to increase from 1.7 billion baht to 4 billion baht For 489 buses that’s an increase of about 4.7 million baht each. In September 2015 the maintenance and improvement cost for each of the 671 buses old buses was expected to be around 1 million baht. Will the new buses be worth about five times more than the renovated buses? Perhaps only to the vendor.
