BANGKOK, 25 April 2016 (NNT) - The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Region 4 has announced its achievements in preventing violent incidents in the southern border provinces and suppressing crime. Many suspects with evidence were arrested.

Commander of the 4th Army Area Command and ISOC Region 4 Director Lt.Gen.Wiwat Pathomphak on Sunday gave a summary of the performance of the ISOC Region 4 from October 2015 to March 2016.

He said the overall situation in the Deep South improved and the local people were more confident in the authorities. More than 85% of them developed a positive attitude towards the government’s southern border policy and cooperated with the government more, said the commander.

126 suspects were arrested and seven operations bases of insurgents were found. The authorities successfully prevented 38 bomb attacks during the period of six months.

The authorities also confiscated a large number of contraband and other prohibited items and arrested suspects of human trafficking.

The ISOC Region 4 director also confirmed that the government still adhered to peaceful means in tackling the southern conflict with cooperation from the military, police, civil servants and the civil sector.

Albeit by establishing military safe zones much like the USA did in South Vietnam in the 1970's, engaging in firefights with insurgents in civilian areas and completely avoiding any productive peace negotiations with the insurgents.

In fact martial law was never lifted for the South ... another tool in the military's adherence to peace.
