Hello everyone, about a month ago I passed through immigration at the Cambodian Thai border, I just passed the normal immigration booth then there were two casual clothed immigration officials they asked me to step over towards them they took my passport looked at it then scanned it again said nothing, they thanked me and sent me on my way ? Does anyone have any idea if that is normal as I've never experienced that before ? Does that mean I have been flagged for some reason ? The first official at the immigration booth did ask me a few questions which I have never been asked before such such as am I working in Thailand?

They were legitimate Thai officials as they were just behind the main immigration booth they had their own desk and a laptop etc set up

Ah well nothing to worry about then if they were the real deal, just double checking their counterparts, they've probably heard how incompetent some of them can be.

My passport does not have a bar code but is otherwise quite modern, with an electronic chip embedded somewhere.

Immigration primary passport checks are usually queried on Interpol's SLTD database. Might have been a secondary query on the more extensive I-24/7 database.
