Indonesia urges North Korea to refrain from provocative actions

JAKARTA: -- The Indonesian government has expressed deep concern over North Korea's submarine-launched ballistic missile test last weekend, saying that such activities could escalate tensions at a regional and international level, The Jakarta Globe reported.

North Korea conducted the test on Saturday, making it the latest in a series of demonstrations of the country’s military might that began in January.

Pyongyang also tested its fourth nuclear device on Jan. 6 and launched a long-range rocket on Feb 7, both in defiance of United Nations resolutions.

In a statement, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that such activities contradict the spirit of the 1996 Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and that it could be seen as a violation of the UN Security Council’s 2006, 2009 and 2013 resolutions.

“Indonesia urges North Korea to refrain from provocative actions that may threaten regional and international security and stability,” the ministry said.

It would only take one bullet to fix this problem.
