UK National in Chiang Mai-Visa for China.

Featured Replies

Is it possible for us to get a visa for two week visit to China at Chinese Embassy in Chiang Mai ?

Anyone with recent experience ?

not a problem. Go to the consulate which is near the southern moat, not far from SIAM electric.

The 4-page form can be downloaded and fill it in at home. You'll need hotel addresses etc.

I usually take my plane bookings to show I'm returning to CNX, but don't know if this is necessary now.

Processing takes about 4 or 5 days.

You'll need to look up the fees on the internet. It varies for each country.

I had mixed results getting my crew visas there.

The local girls at the window are all "Cannot" robots but the actual Counsular officers were great. Highlighted the actual information minimum they need on the forms

Next day service. Last time I used my company (they pay anyway) who have a fixer at another Consulate. 5 years for the same price CM would give 1 or 2.

I believe the fees are quite steep for us Brits, due to us charging Chinese visitors an arm and a leg if they want to visit Blighty.

Australian citizen, got one in February, wasn't a problem but you need to have everything perfect on the form and the form is full on in terms of wanting details.

As a bonus if you're going to Yunnan and the Himalayas (which we were) you get a free book on how wonderful China's treatment of Tibetans are :)
