Lax Law Enforcement Cited for Alarming Road Fatalities in Thailand
I see a lot of indifference on Thai roads: you should drive in the left lane but a very high percentage of vehicles with four or more wheels, including the police, travel in the overtaking lane. You honk and flash them and they put on their right indicator to let you know that they are staying there, forcing you to overtake them incorrectly and risk finding a car that is driving regularly. They fine those who do not wear a helmet but I have never seen cars stopped and fined for driving in the overtaking lane...! -

I don't understand. I left Texas, and now live in Thailand. I spend about half a day in total, a full day in a bad year, handling immigration formalities. Why wouldn't Americans like it? After all, that's what we signed up for when we chose to expatriate to a foreign land. We knew the rules beforehand.- 1

True. A lot of people visit early on with rose colored glasses, return home and make long term plans to move later on. They need to know the drill of living here long term before they make that move. -

Two Aussie women are left fighting for life after methanol poisoning at a Laos hostel Two Aussies on life support in Thai hospitals By MAX ALDRED FOR DAILY MAIL AUSTRALIA Two young women from Melbourne are fighting for life in Thailand, suspected of drinking poisoned cocktails which reportedly had shots of 'vodka' while holidaying in Laos. The best friends, both believed to be aged 19, were rushed to hospital from the Laotian capital, Vientiane - near Thailand's northern border - after their drinks were reportedly spiked with methanol. The young women are believed to have finished school in 2023 and had been travelling Asia during their summer university break. It understood they attended Mentone Girls Grammar and Beaumaris Secondary College in Melbourne's Bayside suburbs.
