SURAT THANI: Rescue workers this morning found the decomposed body of Mr Prachit Saisema, the fisherman who went missing for seven days after his boat collided with a tourist boat in the Ratchaprapa reservoir in Surat Thani.

Mr Prachit’s body floated onto the surface of the reservoir at about 7.15 am close to the spot where the body of a diver, Mr Chayut Tipchit, resurfaced one day earlier. The body was later taken to the pier of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand where his relatives were waiting.

However, officials said that the body had to go through legal procedure to determine the identity and the cause of death before it was to be handed over to relatives for religious ceremony.

whistling.gif It is a common thing for drowned bodies to float to the surface a few days after drowning, as the gas generated form the degeneration of the organs internally makes their bodies lighter.....which causes them to rise to the surface.

...5 to 9 days is the norm and in the 'bear hug' position.
