Looking for a good home for a 3 year old male Khao Manee cat. Not sure if he is a pure breed but he’s white with one blue and one yellow eye.

He is a stray cat that has been living around my condo since I moved in recently - I noticed that he hadn't been looking too healthy so took him to the vet. Although people around the condo have been feeding him, he showed signs of malnutrition.

The good news, he has been cleaned up, de-fleaed, wormed and is happily sleeping in my condo. He is on multi-vitamins and a special diet to make him strong again.

He is going to get inoculated next week, when he is a bit stronger. He hasn't been neutered yet and I am happy to pay for this to be done, but he needs to be in better health before he can have the operation - the vet said in about one month.

He is a really beautiful cat and has a wonderful temperament - very gentle and soft. He loves human contact and will sit for hours with you happily purring away. As he is not at all shy of human contact I think he did have a home once and was maybe abandoned.

I would love to keep him myself but the condo has a no pet rule - they are ok with me looking after him till he gets better - but that was under the condition that I am finding a new home for him. Plus I work a lot and I am not always at home and he needs a garden.

I want him to go to a loving home, with a garden for him to play in. As I said he has a great loving temperament and would really make a great pet.

Only contact if you are serious about taking this beautiful cat on - he really deserves a good home and I don’t want him back on the streets again.

Where are you located Alex?

Also, would you be willing to help relocate the cat if someone took him?

I am on Sukhumvit 101/1.

Do you mean take the cat to another city or town? That depends, on time and if I feel the place is ok for the cat. From what I can see so far, he isn't really a farm or outdoor kind of cat - being outside a lot has made him sick already. I think he needs a place where he can stay indoors a lot but have access to a garden or something.

He's a lovely boy, alex. Good luck, I wish I could take him but its impossible right now.

Anyone out there interested in a lovely, loving tom kitty?

Good luck Alex! As you may know from this forum I am also in the process of placing some "Khao Manee" strays, altho I am lucky in that 2 are kittens which is always easier, plus blue-eyed.

The one brown/blue eye means no pedigree but mated with a female "khao Manee" the kittens would look as if they are. (not that I'm advocating that....too many strays needing homes, cats should be neutered)

The Thais love Khao Manee and believe them to be very good luck so you wouldn't have too much trouble to find a Thai home for him but the problem is that Thais usually do not know how to care properly for cats. In particular they do not know how to feed them and tend to give them rice which results in protein deficiency...

Anyhow good luck! You are earning much merit through caring for him. If I have any leads I'll let yopu know...

I don't think he is a pure breed as he has a kink at the end of his tail but he definitely has strong Khao Manee pedigree in him, his eye color is bright blue and yellow almost green for the other. Well to be honest who cares, he is such a sweet natured and loving cat.

I have a strong suspicion that he has been abandoned as he no hang ups about being around humans, he will let you pick him up, he will roll over straight away, love to be pampered and will follow me or my girl friend around the condo when we walk around. Also he hasn't sprayed once in the condo, he lets me carry him downstairs in the lift and then will do the toilet outside. The vet said he is between 2 to 3 years old, but I have only seen him around the condo in the past couple of months so I think he was abandoned recently.

How anyone could abandon such a cool cat I don't know! Really wish I could have him myself but the condo isn't too happy about him staying and I am out at work in the day and there is not safe area for him to run around in.

Good luck with finding homes for your kittens, my girlfriend was positively gushing over the picture of them the other day lol

I'd be willing to adopt him if there was any way of getting him down to Phuket.

Just to let people know, I would like him to be relocated in Bangkok and the near surrounding area.

The reasons - I don't think he would be up for a long journey, he is still a bit weak from being malnurished and a long journey would just be too stressful for him.

Thanks

Hey just to let everyone know, I found a home for the cat. He has gone to a Thai friend of mine, she lives with her family, so there is always someone around and they have a garden for him to play and frolic in. Apparently her younger niece has already fallen in love with him and pampers him for hours on end, so he is one happy and contented kitty.

Thanks

Congragulations and well done, Alex!

There is a belief in Buddhist SE Asia that killing a cat is karmically as bad as killing a monk (or, some even say, a Buddha!)

I like to think that the reverse must be true: that helping a cat brings special merit...

Hi Alex

I dont know if you are still on this forum, but may I say congratulation and good karma to you for rescuing this Khao Manee baby.

I am a breeder of Burmese and soon Khao Manee in the UK. Myself and a few other breeders have got together to introduce this stunning breed to the West, to take thier rightful place as the fourth great Thai breed over here. Just how these beautiful cats have been overlooked here is sinful!!

I have a KM girl coming over from the US soon, but the genepool ouside Thailand is minute (I know it is not large in Thailand itself, another reason to help to preserve the breed). I and my friends are looking for other Khao Manee from their mother country to bring across to the UK and US, in order to establish a healthy genepool.

I am very genuine, my website is www.khaomanee.co.uk and we have set up a new cat club for the breed. www.khaomaneecatclub.co.uk.

If anyone can help us, it would be wonderful to hear from you.

Best wishes

Chrissy
