I have a Digital Smart TV.

It has these ports on the back of it.

The only thing I have connected to it is my PC via HDMI.

They have this digital box thing in Big C.

The coax cable in the house is not near the TV/computer set up, but the WiFi router is next to both.

So, if I buy it and......

connect a LAN cable from my router to the box, and connect the red, white and yellow RCA ports to the TV, or get a Coax cable to go from the out port on the box to the in port on the TV.

What will happen?

Nothing because the house's coax cable is not running to the box.

Or, digital TV channels coming into the box from the LAN cable connected to the router?

Thank you kindly.

It's hard to tell from the small photos, but that looks like a GMM Z satellite box - which will do absolutely nothing without a satellite dish setup.

Edit: in your last photo we can see "LNB IN', so yep, it's a satellite TV box. You'd need a satellite dish and the right LNB installed on it, to use it.

It's a satellite TV box...and it for "pay TV"...appears to be CTH you would need to sign-up with based on below youtube video and I also CTH on the box packaging.

Depending on what you want to watch, you could just install Kodi with a video addon on your PC and run an HDMI cable from your PC to your TV. Complete instructions are online if you GOOGLE them.

If he has a Smart TV he should not need any extra box - just tune the TV to connect to the WiFi system and watch online directly.

Not sure where you are but TUK COM has a few shops that can set you up with a turn-key

system. What you need from A-Z. thumbsup.gif

So if I gets me an Android box, plug it into my router via LAN, then connect it to my TV via HDMI..... what will I get out of it?

(Not too pushed on playing Angry Birds or Farm-Pop tbh.)

I presume it will do more?

Just do search on the forum or internet for "Kodi". Many topics about it floating around. Or you could install on that box "ThaiExpatTv" (Google that one also) or you can use the browser on that box to watch iLikeHD (I dont know if they have an Android apk).

Good luck

Put it back in the box, place it on any shelf. It will gather dust. Periodically carefully collect the dust. Eventually you will have enough to plant something. Watch what grows.( If it does) It may be invaded by all sorts of parasites and diseases. It will provide much greater entertainment than TV.

An Android box just runs the Android OS just like your tablet or phone. Your PC or a good tablet will probably be much quicker and you will have a keyboard to work with. Depending on the modernity of your tablet, PC and TV you should be able to get the signal to your TV by HDMI or wirelessly. Just be aware that casting wirelessly to your TV will cut into the WiFi bandwidth available for receiving the video stream. It is good to make one of your connections wired whether the LAN connection or the HDMI connection. Kodi and ilikehd will give you a good variety of things to watch. Just be aware that ilikehd channels often go down so they will be intermittently available.

What do want to do/watch exactly?

Dunno.

What's on?

In that case...I use Chromecast and love it. Requires an hdmi input and power source (usb optional). I stream Netflix and Amazon Prime YouTube and browse on my bigscreens all through my phones, iPads, notebook all effortlessly. And it's the size of a pocket watch so easy to move/ship/sell etc. and doesn't clutter my house with big dusty electronic boxes generating heat all day. Setup is a snap via a phone app. I got mine at Banana IT and couldn't love it more.
