webfact Posted May 2, 2016 Share Posted May 2, 2016 CDC concerned over people’s lack of understanding about educationBANGKOK, 2 May 2016 (NNT) - The Constitution Drafting Commission is concerned over the public’s lack of understanding about the education system in the country.Spokesman of the CDC Chatchai Na Chiang Mai, said today that the charter drafters plan to visit people around the country to explain the key points of the draft Constitution which is still being finalized as many documents are still being reviewed and summarized.Mr. Chatchai said that, once the essential documents are ready, they will submitted to the Election Commission.He added that the CDC is also to invite representatives of the National Legislative Assembly to help explain the referendum question to the volunteers, who will later help with the explanation process, during a training session scheduled for May 18 and 19.Mr. Chatchai went on to say that the CDC has been worried that the people may still lack sufficient knowledge about public health and education because distorted information is still circulating in the country. -- NNT 2016-05-02 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For one, they will most assuredly be teaching them about how good it is instead of weighing the pros and cons and letting people make a real educated decision. Secondly, everyone knows this constitution is only as good as the current admin which, they are hoping will be gone soon with real elections. Thirdly, everyone knows that nothing will change whether this constitution gets passed or not except perhaps a power shift with P in the background controlling things. This constitution will get passed if anything just to assure that elections will take place since so far, every year they seem t o make excuses for delaying that again and again. ChrisY1 Posted May 2, 2016 Share Posted May 2, 2016 It's really not just about the publics understanding about the Thai education system....IMO, the educators know little of the system, otherwise comments such as this would be not be needed. Reading between the lines... the authorities are saying the system is tanked and the people don't learn! But as has been stated, the whole movement to get the people to gain some understanding of the new constitution, will be about convincing them to vote yes! Obviously these might be viewed as negatives, and as such easily mis-understood by the un-educated masses. I was able to teach him reading writing and basic math before he entered the rat race. I would rather go to prison, than put my child in a 3Rd floor room with 40 more babies. While I'll admit that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, I think you should read the article again?? The previous Op was was spot on when he suggested putting M4-6 back into pre K 1 - 3, maybe they'll learn something if they have to go around again?? Twelve years of government-supported education has been an explicit constitutional guarantee since 1997. Both Democrats and PTP have objected to the loss of the three .
