May 6, 20169 yr i went and told the girls outside i wanted it for free .they took the application and gave me a little cue card for 3o days from then.if it had been same day service i would have thought about it.but as you have to go twice anyway then why throw 500 bt their way? picked it up 30 days later and got my license...
May 17, 20169 yr I'd like to hear from anyone out there in thaivisa land that did not pay the 500 baht. Did you get the cert? How long did it take and what hoops did you jump through? Anyone? 3 years back I refused to pay 1,000 baht for two letters - one for each of a motorcycle and car driver's license. There was quite a commotion by the strutting little official who seemed to be in charge. The girls behind the counter just sat stone-faced. I stayed calm and sat at the counter and refused to move. It was tense and unnerving but I'm not one to cave into government extortion - which is what this is. Yes, no published fees and no receipt is extortion. After what seemed like 10 minutes but was probably 5, the little man returned and gave the letters to me for no charge. He also said that if I needed anything from them again that I would not get it. This last bit confirms how foul this office was. Turns out I was back there several times without problem in the next 12 months. There are a few brave and plenty of cowardly expats in Thailand. You decide which group you want to be in. I'm no longer in Thailand and getting out of that rotten country was one of the best things I've ever done for myself.
May 17, 20169 yr I got the same "no more," after getting a 35 say wait free one, last year. The people checking paperwork were real nice, but then when it came time to meet the monkey behind the glass, things turned a bit ugly.

Good for you uptoyoumf and KKK. Just plan ahead for license renewal, etc, and starve the beasts. As said, you gotta go twice anyway so don't feed the greed.
