May 3, 20169 yr Giant sea turtle washed up on southern Thai beachImage: ThairathCHUMPHON:-- Villagers saw an unusual sight washed up on a southern Thai beach Monday - a giant sea turtle reckoned to be about 80 years old.Fisheries department official called to the Bang Man beach in Chumphon said that the 100 cm x 90 cm animal may have died from eating plastic waste or a poisonous substance, reports Thairath.There were no signs on the 80 kilogram turtle that it had got tangled in nets or been hurt by collision with a fishing boat.Ratri Chanrat from the fisheries department said the female turtle had been dead several hours and would be taken to a research institute in Chumporn to be cut open in an effort to find out why it has died. May 3, 20169 yr This sad. I have no sympathy for folk who kill themselves when pi$$ed in cars or on bikes when not even wearing a crash hat. Their own fault but an old turtle that has been roaming the seas . yup sad.
May 3, 20169 yr Probably plastic as the main food for these turtles is jellyfish and plastic bags under water look very similar. Very sad !!!
